I will never understand this. Are you not able to get them sighted in?

I enjoy practicing and shooting, so I don't sight my guns in and then forget them in the back of the closet. I shoot them all regularly because I like it.

That said, I don't have a thousand guns. I have a few that I shoot the hell out of, though not as much now because I can't replace it at the rate I used to shoot. Still, if you shoot as a hobby, you tend to start buying ammo hundreds of rounds at a time and keeping it on hand simply because it's cheaper to buy a lot when you see a good price instead of paying full retail every week when you make your trip out to shoot.

I have a friend that plays pretend SWAT every weekend and goes through more than that. Dude shoots a lot of bullets just for fun, which whatever, that's his hobby and it he enjoys it. Due to the ammo shortage, he's had to pull out his old airsoft stuff to keep pew-pewing. That said, he does get a lot of free stuff through his Instagram account because he shoots so much and broadcasts it. Sights, night vision, barrels, other parts I'm not knowledgeable enough to know, etc.

Downshift, I have not bought loaded ammo in probably 3-4 years other than shotgun ammo.

stop being an a-hole because you don't agree or understand.

I have guns. I shoot a lot but I'm also shooting in competitions and practicing for those.

So why do you care about any of this? I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about the fat pale neckbeards stacking their buggies with whatever the hell is on the shelf at opening every mornjng.v

There are a lot of factors that go into it. I don't think gov't is buying more ammo, but I could be wrong. There usually are machines dedicated to certain types of rounds or calibers, so reducing rifle production to increase pistol production won't happen.

I do know that manufacturers are trying to pump out as much as possible, but when people play the attendance policy and FMLA, machines sit idle, which happens a lot. Then there's the revolving door of personnel and the training of new hires.

One place is taking measures to increase pistol round production by 1 million per day. That might not be a drop in the bucket in today's market, but it's something.

In times like this, anything will sell, so they make whatever is fast and cheap. That usually means fmj range ammo

Dayum.

I've always found that panic time is a good time to have oddball calibers. 5.56, 9mm .308 and 12ga buckshot are near impossible to get when its like this. 357sig, 375h&h, 6.5x55 swede are not hard to find right noe

Yes, i usually let my kids do a good bit shooting at this time of the year to get ready for deer season but not this year. I cant find any ammo at all, almost couldn't find any 20 or 12 gauge bird shot for dove hunting.

Can barely even find .177 pellets for my pellet gun. That's when you know it's crazy.

How often do you shoot your bow?
Wait, are you comparing bow practice with gun practice?

Isn’t another problem getting lead from China? No lead smelting in merca.

My last purchase/pickup at Academy gun counter, I was behind 5 parties in line and 4 of them were black. I absolutely believe the statistic.

How the hell can somebody who doesn't use a gun for a living burn 600 rounds of centerfire ammo a month? Everything other than sporting clays is boring after 50 rounds.

People who have their own place to shoot, and routinely practice drills to proficiency. That’s shooting 3 boxes of pistol ammo a week. If you practice movin/shooting, shooting in a retreat, multiple targets, shooting from a barricaded position, etc. you’ll go through 3 boxes pretty quickly. I don’t shoot during the hot months, but I’ll shoot this much in the good months.

Now that I answered your question, I had no idea some people don’t realize this.

Eta: after reading your smug arse tone after people gave you legit answers. Go back to your “muh 6.5 Swede bullshite”

I cant find my swede ammo. Its buried behind loaded Pmags and .22lr so I can get to those quickly when we have the impending great suburban street skirmishes of 2020.

Hunting season is here and yall need to chill out for a few months. The old guys need to sight their rifles in.

I've seen plenty of 6.5 Creed in SW Bama. Local shops and Academy.

Everything else is pretty sketchy, except. 243.

Alx, your argument is just ridiculous.

It’s ok that you it don’t understand that I’m practicing to get into competition shooting.

I can hit 2 12 gauge shotgun shells at 25 yds freehand in 4 shots. I’ve done it more than once.
