I have moved to Gliss and NanoFil. Both made for spinning applications, but I have found heavier Gliss works just fine on casters.

I have Gliss on one spinning setup currently and have no issues with it either.
I will say that green Nanofil seems to be better than white, although it may only be a perception and not reality.

Spent the last 2 evenings after work on this. Not really experienced at building stuff from scratch so i just went to Home Depot and got a bunch of 2x4, PVC and casters and was winging it from there. In hindsight, its a little wider than needed

The wife and I are heading to Grand Isle this weekend so I will have Friday afternoon/evening, Saturday, and Sunday AM to fish. I plan on renting a kayak on Saturday for the wife. I want to fish on the beach as well. My plan is to fish Caminada Pass at some point and do some beach fishing. My question is what game plan should I come up with as far where and when should I fish? I will most likely take the wife out on Saturday morning. Should we head down Hwy 1 towards Port Fourchon or head to Leeville? When I decide to fish Caminada Pass where should I focus? I have read about the points but I have also seen that there is a drop off north of the bridge. Where should we fish from the beach? I already have some insight on each of these questions but I am looking to you experts for additional and accurate recent knowledge. Any other insight is certainly welcomed.

Anybody do the Tarpon rodeo? Thinking about going next year. Is it a bad idea to bring a yak and think you’ll get any fishing done?

I'll be headed down there Friday afternoon with a friend of mine to fish all weekend. We'll probably hit the kayak launch Friday afternoon, try to do Elmers Saturday(kinda want to catch a bull red), then a short trip Sunday morning somewhere.

Usually if you get out in the mornings it's not bad, we used to hold a kayak tournament in Leeville the same weekend of the Tarpon the last few years and I'd regularly fish around the island with no problems. It always seemed like people didn't start stirring around until after lunch, and by that time I was off the water and getting off the island.

Do you mind if I tag along Friday afternoon?

Yea that's cool, I'm going to try to get out of Lafayette around noon, head down drop our crap off and try to be on the water around 5pm or so. Shoot me a PM on the LKFC forum with your number and I'll text you my info.

I have your number from when I bought your kayak. I will send you a text today with my info. We are planning on leaving Friday morning so we can get our camper set up. There is a spot I want to check out after dark if you guys are interested. It's around some private wharfs.

What spoons do you guys use (brand, model, size, color) for redfish? I have lost two Johnson Sprites (gold) with those damn treble hooks and looking for possible alternatives. I have a love/hate relationship with treble hooks.

I have a simple kayak, similar to the one pictured below. I have over a foot of unused foot space. Any ideas or suggestions for ways to utilize this space? Much appreciation.

In front of you or behind you? In front, add a depth finder.
And I wouldn't spend a ton of time modifying an entry level yak. Save up and catch a used higher end yak on a good deal and THEN get to customizing.

n front of me. I previously added a depth finder to the center console area between the leg space. I was looking for some low budget modifications I could make. Seeing the empty space each time I paddle kills me.

Only spoon I use. Does great in heavy grass.

Yessir! This thing feels rock solid. Can't wait to take it out. I just had surgery so it will be a couple weeks until I can get on the water. My Ascends are in the background giving jealous dirty looks. My next goal will be figuring out how I'm going to store this thing, my plan was putting taking it apart and putting the pontoons on the ceiling and hanging the deck against a wall but Val from Masseys said it was more of a pain to take apart then their videos made it seem. You have to untie a rope and then when you put it back together you have to thread the rope back through this small hole. We'll see.

Hell yeah!! congrats on the new rig
When ya gonna get her on the the water and where so I can take it for a spin
The layout looks good just curious, can you lower the seat and how do you think it will perform in current?

I’d be too tempted to put a motor on that thing. And a foot controlled trolling motor.
Congrats
