Sig Sauer P320 X-Compact Optic Choices
Posted by ManUFan on 11/22/24 at 9:43 am
I just bought a Sig Sauer P320 X-Compact with the Pro optics footprint. I also bought a Vortex Viper optic (was a really good price) but I am having a real issue with finding an optics plate for this. The Viper is the Docter or Noblex footprint.
1. Is there a optics plate out there that fits this? I don't want to get one custom made.
2. Is there another optic that I should look at (under $200) that would fit this easier? Even if I have to purchase an optic plate for this particular one.
3. Should I just go ahead and purchase the Romeo1Pro which is the perfect fit for this gun? This optic is well over $300.
Thanks

re: Watching SLU Baseball Game from CF Parking Structure

My son and I went last year and arrived about 30 minutes before the game and that was a mistake. No seats available and no good spot left to stand and watch the game. Their standing room only sucks. Fortunately a few SLU football players allowed my 11 year old to squeeze between them to get a decent view of the game. I would get there when they open the stadium if you want a seat.
Receiver for outdoor speakers/TV
Posted by ManUFan on 8/15/23 at 8:53 pm
I currently have 6 Infinity Outrigger Jr (60 watts max) outdoor speakers and a TV set up in my outdoor patio area. I currently use the Sony STR DH770 receiver. I am looking for a replacement. My needs are bluetooth, optical, and enough wattage to get some good sound out of 6 speakers. My budget is $150.
I was looking at some of the Pyle receivers but not sure of their quality.
I don't mind using 4 speakers on 2 channels if it will get me enough wattage per channel.

Where is the cheapest place to rent a golf cart in Grand Isle (how much per day for 4 person)? We are looking to go from July 23-25 so it would be mostly week days. Thanks.
Tax deduction on Energy Efficient AC in Louisiana??
Posted by ManUFan on 3/6/23 at 3:54 pm
I have been hearing that Louisiana is still discussing what the tax deduction for year 2023 will be for putting in a qualified energy efficient air conditioner in your home. Does anyone have any information on this? Someone that I know that runs an AC business stated that it could be up to $8000 but was unsure. I am having trouble finding anything out about this and I have a few emails sent out to my state reps but have not heard back yet.
From what I understand the program is funded via the feds but it will be according to state tax incentives...but I could be completely wrong on this.

My current system is a 5 ton and all the contractors that came by said it was correct. I plan to be in it around 10 years.
I think I am going to go with the Amana 15.3 seer because of quality (over the 14.3) and potential tax rebates. I have an email out to my state Senator and state Rep to see where Louisiana is on the amount the tax break will be for year 2023.
I spoke to my cousin who has an HVAC business across the state. He does Trane and Amana and recommended Amana based on that labor warranty. The 10 year labor warranty is on special at the HVAC company I am going with for $395. It is really hard to pass on that warranty.
I will also have them expand my current return air to a 24x30 and put in a new 12x12 in another room. This will get me really close to what I need. If that is not working we will put a 3rd (12x12) across the house.
Thanks for all the input I received.

I am in Mandeville. The Trane company is Three Rivers.
Which AC unit to go with
Posted by ManUFan on 3/2/23 at 10:48 am
My home is a 2500sq ft one story. I am looking at a few 5 ton units to replace my 22 year old Trane.
1. 16 seer Trane (10 year parts, 1 year labor)
2. 14 seer Amana (10 year parts, 10 year labor)
3. 15 seer Amana (10 year parts, 10 year labor)
The 15 seer Amana is $1200 more than the 14 seer Amana. The 16 seer Trane is about the same as the 14 seer Amana.
Both companies seem to be very good but have a different approach on the return air portion. I currently have one return air that is 24x24. One company wants to expand the return air to 24x30 (Trane). The other wants to expand the return air to 30x30 and build the return air box to come out of my upright heater on both sides (currently comes out on one side).
Would it be worth it going from a 14 to a 15 for $1200? Would it be worth it going to the 16 seer Trane with only a 1 year labor warranty?
Thanks in advance.

That guy is in Vivian, LA. I am in Mandeville so that is way too far.
Built in charcoal grill for outdoor kitchen
Posted by ManUFan on 2/20/23 at 10:36 am
I just pulled out a gas grill (I hate gas grills) from my outdoor kitchen and I want to replace it with a charcoal grill. The space is 2' deep and 2'8" wide. I was thinking of putting in a 22" weber but I would like something that fits better (barrel type). What are my options? Which brands should I avoid? I love my weber and the way it cooks. If I have to go with something smaller what material should I use to hold up the grill (concrete board, plywood, etc.). Should I try to get one custom made?

Thank you for actually answering my questions.
I would have done that but the only tickets available were the ones I bought.
Baseball/Softball seating question
Posted by ManUFan on 2/15/23 at 10:41 am
My son and I have General Admission tickets to the LSU/Western Michigan baseball game on Saturday and then General Admission tickets to the LSU softball game on Saturday. What is the seating like for those 2 games with GA? Should we bring chairs/blanket? Do they allow chairs? I am trying to get a feel of what we should expect. Being that the Baseball game is first and the Softball game is last where should we park...should we park in lot 406 near Tiger Park? I just want this to be special to my 10 year old so I want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks.
Call Farm Bureau. They are still writing in this area. They use LA Citizens for Wind/Hail but the premiums were close to what I was paying before…although lesser coverage but all others wanted twice what I was paying for the same coverage I am getting now.

Fishing Charters in South Mississippi for Redfish/Trout
Posted by ManUFan on 5/24/22 at 7:45 pm
Any solid recommendations for an inshore fishing charter near Bay St. Louis?
The main trees I wanted to plant is the Japanese Maple but unfortunately due to the full sun and summer temps they don't do well here in South Louisiana.
I have plenty of shade in my backyard so my plans are to plant a Japanese Maple there.
Thanks for all the recommendations. I will definitely look into them to see if they would be better than the three I have looked into already.

Colorful tree recommendations (Mandeville)
Posted by ManUFan on 3/30/22 at 11:41 am
I had some trees removed recently (Pine, Bradford Pear) from my front yard and need to replace them. There are 2 spots I want to replant. One is about 40-50ft from my house and the other is about 20ft from my house. They will both be full sun especially in the summer. The space near my house needs to be a smaller tree (below 20ft). The other can be bigger but I want to make sure in the future it is not big enough to fall on my house. I want trees with bright colors. The two that I am considering is the Autumn Maple and the Purple Leaf Plum. Another that is a consideration is the Callaway Flowering Crabapple.
Which others should I consider?
