I didn’t see one of these threads after a long weekend and lots of people in the woods, so...

I did some deer hunting and saw a bunch, but not the right one. We did have two 8pts killed that weighed in at 245lbs and 270lbs

Duck hunted a couple days this weekend. Killed a banded greenhead on my second ever duck hunt.

Fair enough. Just nothing in the pics for scale. Not my deer, so just snapped a couple.

Duck hunting was slower than ever where I was at, never got skunked, but never did too well. We did shoot two specks yesterday though

Only went Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. Shot 6, 8, and 4. The birds have really dropped off in CENLA.

I did however shoot my first banded specklebelly. He was at least 4 years old and was banded in Cambridge Bay, Canada and had flown over 2,800 miles.

Sat on the deck at the camp all day/evening Friday and cooked a deer roast w/ sausage rice and gravy. Daughter finally wanted to stay with daddy at the camp by herself so we did that and rode in the boat for a little while and fished off the deck. She caught 3 catfish and is one step closer to being my fishing buddy!

Caught and released 17 reds on the fly Saturday. No poling, no trolling, just myself a loud arse mud boat and some hungry fish. Caught a few bigger ones but I was by myself so It was difficult getting pictures.

Friday morning kilt a 150lb doe. Rest of the weekend only saw one other spike and ate some good camp cooking. Movement hasn’t been to great on our end yet.

Mine caught a little bitty blue gill when she was 3 on an Elsa pole....she's been hooked ever since. We usually try to go once a month depending on what her momma has us doing. Those are some of the best day

Had a pretty good weekend this weekend despite the terrible hunting weather:

Taught my son to pass on a big ol doe cause she wouldnt give him a good broadside shot, we need to better conservationists. Taught him to pass on two young bucks, teaching to improve the lease thru being more selective.

Put him in the shooting seat knowing that the biggest 8 point I have ever seen in Louisiana had been coming thru every morning at about 90 yards. Because I love him, and what kind of lesson is it to take the good deer and leave the scraps for him.

Then about that time Mr Buck comes in from dead ahead and hangs up, knowing something is up, at about 150. I proceed to teach him another lesson. I taught him how to freak out at the sight of horns that big, how to shove his son into the corner of the blind and lean against him so that Daddy could get a better rest. All the while Mr Deer heads further away and I miss him at about 250 or so as he heads off the lane.

Yes sir, I taught him some good lessons.

Eta- Small Balls bricked on a nice 8-pt and killed a doe. He graduated from a .243 to a .270 with no issues so that's nice.

Killed a nice buck yesterday morning. 19.5 wide with between 5 & 5.5 inch bases but loses his mass quick and the tallest tine was 7". Rough scored him at 129 6/8. 5 1/2 year old deer. First picture I just took when I walked up on him to send to my dad and wasn't intended to be a tricky camera angle, but after looking at it I realized he looks absolutely huge...so that's the one I sent to everyone!

Got my first deer ever. Have hunted infrequently for a long time, but got into more in the last couple of years. Have had some in the crosshairs at a hifence place that most people would have over their fireplace, but aren’t big enough for that place.

My buddy took me to his new lease and said I could take a doe. There were cane harvesters working about 400 yards away from me and I didn’t think there was a prayer a deer would come close, but sure enough, she came walking right at me at 6:30 ish. Got her at about 90 yards. She ran off into the woods and I had to sit there until 8:30 when everyone else was finished hunting to go make sure she was dead. Had only gone about 30 yards away. Went 95lbs.
