Yeah. the guy really isn't trying at all. you can tell.

to the guy that just said you really want a jeep... there's nothing like it. for me it was everything i had hoped for... of course with the obvious downsides that you can read up on anywhere, including this thread.

I am on my 3rd Jeep. My first was a 1992 Wrangler standard with Peugeot transmission. That was bad as the fifth gear would "fall" off and would cost a couple hundred bucks every time. I can do a lot of basic mechanic work but transmissions are above my pay grade. I got a better job and upgraded with a 2000 Wrangler that I loved as well. The only problem there was it caught fire in 2005 from the dash AC Relay. Not good. Although there was no recall for this at the time, I spoke to Chrysler and they paid it off and the equity I put into a new 2006 automatic Rubicon. I have driven my Rubicon from Louisiana to northern California, Minnesota, Illinois and up the east coast to Maryland. I have over 182,000 miles on it. I had the engine rebuilt in 2014 and it is running better than ever, on non-ethanol gas only though. There have been other issues as well but I love the Jeep. I hunted west Texas from 2002 till this past year and have family in New Mexico and have made the trip to either Eldorado, TX or New Mexico countless times. It does ride rough but I am used to it and is no problem for me. However I have had friends say they will never ride to west Texas with me again after a trip in the Rubicon. Pansies I say! I will always be a Jeep man.

I have always wanted a jeep ever since I was a kid.

Yep, pulled the trigger in '02, long every minute of it.
Getting harder to climb in though, too much air in the tires, couldn't be my knees.

A properly designed stinger should also protect the hood from being caved in. If you draw a line from the stinger to the roof, the hood should be not interfere with the line at all.

The idea being, even if you roll, you do won't cave you hood in and continue to drive it.

The week I switched from a bumper with a stinger to a stubby, I rolled my rig

Pass. I'd rather listen to you tell stories about "off roading" on gravel roads in your Cherokee.

Wait...what's this?

My xterra is having a blast while one of those new little cherokees is stuck on the bank

And yes, I know the new cherokee is a crossover.

But according to some, my xterra should have sunk like the titanic.

You're probably right. I've definitely never been on any gravel trails or logging roads. Too hardcore for anyone without a Cherokee.

Went and looked at a 09 wrangler with bumpers and a winch tonight. Sticker price was 22k with 28k miles. I sat in it and fell in love. I told the guy I'd think it over.

Good news is IF you happen to regret your purchase, which you won't... you can sell it for nearly the same price!

Congrats, man. There is no experience like a Jeep.

IF you got it with a hard top, i -strongly- recommend a harken hoister if you have the right garage set up. You can hoist and store your hard top all by yourself, no help needed. Most gratifying Jeep thing I've bought so far.
