Tactical Shotgun Opinions

Looking at adding one to my household and want opinions from people who already own one (or more). I have a lot of shotgun experience and own quite a few, both pump and semi.
Priorities are reliability, weight/balance, ease of use. Not terribly concerned about recoil or price. Recommended accessories would also be helpful.
If you have recommendations about where to actually handle one before I buy I’d like to have that too. I’m in North Louisiana but travel quite a bit.

beretta 1301 with the MXT extension is very well reviewed and reasonably priced but they are hard to find

I second the 1301. This is from Langdon Tactical

Beretta 1301 or Benelli M4. Both are incredible.

Benelli M4 if you want the best

I have a FN SLP that I think is awesome.

Mossberg 930 Tactical SPX is a good, and cheaper, option

No need to be fancy. Just buy the mossberg security and call it a day.
If I were in your shoes I'd buy a youth 20g pump (they even make extended tube tactical versions). Short for inside the house. Everyone can shoot it. Plenty of kill power.

Great one that doesn't get talked about much

I have a Benelli M1014 that I love.
I really don't know all the differences between the M4 and the M1014 (there are not many differences) but I love the gun.

Vpr12 for me.
Runs low brass bird shot with maybe 90% reliability.
Runs #4 buck high brass with 100%.
I run the small double slugs in it.
It'll kill anything in north america inside of 75 yards.

I had one that was a jam-o-matic. I put 200 rds through trying to solve the issue.
My next purchase is a 1301.

I've got a Beretta 1301 that I like a lot. Bought it because of my experience with my A400. The M4 is also and excellent choice. However if you are not wanting to spend a lot, the Mossberg 500 in tactical trim is also a solid choice.

There are a lot of expensive long shotguns with full stocks suggested, but for what you describe, I would want a short shottie.
Spend the extra on serious training to use it effectively.

I have the Beretta 1301 with extended mag, loaded with 2 3/4” #1 Buck, topped with a Leupold Delta Point Pro,,,,,,it’s very quick, eats anything you put in it, superb weapon

Benelli is the best of the bunch. Not cheap!

IMO, the beretta 1301 is a better weapon. It's lighter and FAR cheaper.
Eta: and just as well made.
