Buying a 3-18x50. Does anyone own either the Swarovski Z6 or Zeiss V6? Or even better yet, both? Thoughts? Pros and cons? Recommendations?

Used both. Have Zeiss V6 and two Zeiss V8 and a Kahles k16 (Swaro z6 comparable). The Swaros are very slightly and I mean very slightly better in terms of glass in the 8 series. 6 series, Swaro is brighter than the Zeiss. Zeiss is a couple more ounces I think but they feel more sturdy than comparable Swaro scopes. Wouldn’t hesitate to get either. Also, Swaro has way better reticle options.

I have the Swarovski Z6 and am very satisfied with it. I've got it sitting on a Mark V Accumark in .300 wby mag, held up well and I have taken several animals with it including an Elk last year (473 yds).

Swaro all day. I've converted all my glass to Swaro and will never look back. Even their budget offerings are killer. Bright, sturdy, big eye boxes, great reticle selection

I’ve got the Z6 and 2 V6’s and I’d buy both again.

Thanks ya’ll. I ordered the Swarovski with BRH reticle. I have 3 Z3 4-12x50, so I was leaning that way. But the Zeiss really intrigued me after looking at and through them a couple times. Plus they are $300-400 less than the Swarovski. But I went with my first instinct, the Swarovski. A buddy ordered the Zeiss. Once it cools off a little more we are going to put them side by side to compare. And we will also compare his 6.5 PRC to my 6.5-300 at distance to see which is the better long range cartridge. I feel like we will come away from it with no clear “winner” on either, just personal preference.

Z6 BT 4W all day every day.

I’ve used both the Z6 and V6 and honestly it really just comes down to personal preference.

I prefer the set up of the bt and 4W.

What NF? I have the NXS and it’s not in the same league. Now I have an ATACR and it’s got great glass but heavier and FFP.

I have a couple of Nightforce.

NX8 would be a good hunting scope.

I can't imagine the ATACR as a hunting scope. Way too heavy.

I think that Nightforce makes great long range benchrest scopes. I don’t consider them to be a “last light” hunting scope though. The 5-25x52 is about as good as it gets for the money tor something like the sendero I currently have set up for shooting 1000 yards. But I don’t tote that heavy bastard to the stand or shooting house.

known for being bomb-proof .... not the best option for glass quality.

Swarovski > Zeiss by a slim margin. Leica is worth looking at but their CS and warranty repair work sucks.
I've got a Schmidt & Bender Zenith 1.5 x 6 - 42mm, illuminated FD7 FFP reticle.
Love the optics but still feel Swarovski is the better glass.

Nightforce is laughable for hunting. They are heavy and have horrible a horrible eye box (mostly applies to the NX series). Get a Swaro or Zeiss.

My NX8 takes elk just fine. Swaro has great glass, but on a 10 day hunt off of horseback I'll take my NF any day. There is a place for them and the durability which I trust to be on.

Leupold VX-6 HD is worth a look. I got rid on my Zeiss and have all Leupold VX-6 HD. The HD glass is fantastic.
