Want to get another suppressor, and figure .22 is what I'll shoot most of. I have a browning sa-22 but its older and not threaded, so thinking I should get a composite stock .22 with a threaded barrel.

Problem is I don't see a 10/22 composite stock with a threaded barrel... Can this be ordered? I like the versatility of a 10/22, but not opposed to any other brand, my only preference is that it be semi auto and composite stock - not looking for AR-style guns.

eta: and not looking to spend more than $500 for the rifle

A bolt action .22lr with subs and suppressor is a ton of fun to shoot.

You can’t go wrong with a CZ IMO.

bolt guns are way more fun for suppressed 22s

if you're dead set on that, just get a 10/22 and throw it in a magpul stock

I got the cgs hydra a few weeks ago and love it. With sub-sonic ammo, it makes for an awesome plinkin gun. Quiet as can be

I went with a 10/22 takedown and did a gemtech mist barrel. Loads of fun.

Ruger makes a tactical model with threaded barrel and syn stock. No iron sights. I bought one last month.

Or, Hogue makes sticks for less than $100 that are much better.

10/22 are probably the only gun more customizable than AR15. Use your imagination.

I have suppressed barrels now. No cans. Had two built by Rumble Wepnz in Milton FL. One for my custom bolt and one for a 10/22.

I don’t know much about the Savage A22s, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one for that price.

I can’t stress enough that a bolt action is way more satisfying for .22 suppressed with subsonic rounds. I have a savage bolt action that I love. Savage accutrigger is tough to beat for a factory trigger. I have a 10/22 that I rebarreled for a suppressor, but I rarely take it out.

As far as the suppressor, I'd get one that is rated for 22 mag. They probably all are now though.

Mine isn't and while it's not a big deal, there are some 22mag pistols that could be fun.

As far as the rifle, check out lipseys and the other firearm distributors. They may have a model specific to them that isn't on the manufacturers website.

I got the ruger 8348 bolt action. Almost went with cz, but I like the fact that this ruger uses same mags as 10/22. Crazy quiet with standard ammo and silencerco spectre II

As others have said a bolt gun will be spooky quiet compared to a auto. Buddy of mine has one I forget the brand but It was one of the buy a can get a 22 for free deals and he was disappointed when I mounted it on my mp15-22 cus he didn’t have a threaded 22 at the time.
He went and bought a ruger American it comes threaded and he loves it
Shooting subs it’s seriously quieter than an air rifle.

Honestly Form 1 it and build one yourself. You can do it for under $400 plus $200 tax stamp. Form 1 comes back super fast. have had one come back in 17 days and as long as 68 Days.

Have the Q el Camino and run it on a tikka t1x bolt action and ruger mark 4 22/45 lite tactical. Sounds like an old lady fart on the tikka. Little more noise from the ruger bc of the bolt cycling. However, it will not reliably eject “quiet” cci ammo. No problems with standard 22 ammo.

I have a few different .22 that I put my suppressor on.

1st thing I will tell you though, when looking at suppressors, do not consider anything with aluminum baffles.
Any .22 suppressor with aluminum baffles is a bitch to clean. A real dirty one takes an hour or more.
Titanium or Stainless is the way to go.

I have a Surefire Ryder 22 (aluminum) and rarely use it. Almost to the point of throwing it away.

Q El Camino. This is a badass little silencer. I love it and use it a ton.

long guns
10/22. Bought a basic 10/22 and completely rebuilt the gun. Tactical Solutions barrel, Ruger BX -trigger, Hogue Overmold stock and other tweeks to the bolt.
Gun it super lightweight and is a tack driver.

Ruger Precision 22 - This is a bolt action. It's amazing how quiet this gun is with subs. All you hear is the firing pin falling.

S&W 15-22. This just is just fun. Everyone should have one.

Some years ago I upgraded my 40 year old 10/22. The upgraded included a Feddderson threaded barrel. I later bought a SilencerCo Spectre II suppressor. I've since bought 3 bolt action 22's (Tikka T1X, Savage Mark II and Howa M1100). Admittedly the bolts are a little more quiet than the 10/22, but the 10/22 is still really quiet. I run CCI standard velocity (it's actually subsonic) and subsonic HP's (Aquila and CCI) in all of them. I've been on coon hunts w/ the suppressed 10/22 when having quick follow up shots was advantageous. If you want the 10/22 and can find what you want, get it, shoot it and don't regret it. You'll most likely end up w/ bolt 22 LR to run suppressed at some point anyway. If you can't find a 10/22 w/ a synthetic stock and threaded muzzle, I agree w/

As far as recommendations for a suppressor, it's been my observation pretty much everyone is happy w/ what they have and will recommend that. Yes, get one that's rated also for 17 Mach 2, 17 HMR, 17 WSM, 22 Mag and 22 Hornet....just in case. For objective evaluations of how "quiet" a suppressor is, check out "Pew Science." Keep us updated.

There is a 10/22 takedown rifle that you can buy with the Magpul backpacker stock. These are very popular, although probably not the most accurate you can buy.

Buy a good condition used gun, bring it to a gunsmith, have the barrel threaded for 1/2 28, pay bout $100, you are prob all in less than $400 for the gun.
