Strongest 3M Tape for a Boat

Back story:
On my boat, I installed these plastic angles along the edges of the bench and front deck, to give it a little bit more of a finished look (see image below). Well after a few years, the one along the front deck has cracked in a few spots and needs to be replaced. No big deal, as I have some angle left over from when I installed it initially.
The issue is that on the original install, I screwed it down. I didn't really care for the look with the screws because they kinda buckle the thin plastic angle. So that leads be to my question: What would be the strongest 3M type tape that I could put down to hold the angle along the edge of the deck? Something that wont peel in six months of being in the sun and getting wet?

you can use the body molding tape for car badges and trim but in a boat the glue gets soft in the heat so i cant see it lasting long before it starts lifting on you.
if you switch over to aluminum angle it wont bend at the screws, thats what i would do

Rivets might also work if you can get the exact size.

5200 adhesive maybe, depending on what type of plastic it is

I'm not sure if it will hold up well on aluminum to plastic, but for aluminum to aluminum 3M VHB 4950 is the strongest tape I have come across. I have a metal fab shop and that's what we use when we don't want any visible fasteners.

I would try contact cement. Just make sure you put it on right the first time.

3M VHB tape is what you seek. Be careful when ordering, Amazon and other market places are full of fakes. Pay a few extra $$$ to get it from a legit 3M supply place.
Also... 3M 5200 is very strong, we know but it is rarely the appropriate choice. I keep 3M 4200 on hand. 4200 is holding unless you don't want it too, you can remove 4200. 5200 is holding even if you don't want it too. You might as well realize that if you need to take these two things a part you are destroying one or both of them.

3M 6382 (1/2") or 6383 (7/8") will hold it just fine. If it can hold body side moldings on vehicles at 70 mph, it can handle the boat.
For extra hold, wipe the surfaces with 3M 6396 adhesion promoter before you stick it.

I applied the 3M 5200 to the trim for the front deck today on my lunch break, and set some gas cans on it to hold it down. I will report back with the results tomorrow on how well it worked for this application.

If you didn’t get it all over your hands, shirts, shoes, hair, face, etc you did it wrong
I swear I could only use a pea sized ball of that stuff and still end up with it everywhere
