I threw the ole choupique back as well. First one I've caught in Lacassine. However, I've seen Pillage catch a few in the Burns a few years back. This will be my fourth year fishing in Lacassine, and its the first cypress trout I've caught there.

Man the pics of big bream and crappie have me HOMESICK! Folks in the PNW think Salmon or a gamefish LOL....damned things aint even eating when they leave the ocean....they catch 'em on died, dead, shrimp almost like a stink bait for catfish! And they imagine they are hard to catch LOL...they are almost exactly like a shark...one decent run and they are DONE....and, to top it off, you have to have a lawyer on board the boat with a decent legal library to prevent being afoul of the man....meanwhile the native Americans stand on platforms made out of pallets and simply dip net hundreds of thousand of the dying fish as they swim by and sale them out of the back of their trucks!

They also think a 3 pound largemouth is a hawg...or a hog as the locals call 'em….I will say though that most of the water with bass in them are LOADED with fish....it ain't at all unusual to catch 70-100 1-3 pound bass (largemouth and small mouth) a day...I've caught 50+ a day on popping bugs and a 5 weight rod...loads of fun!
