Just wondering how many of y’all hunt in south Texas? I live about an hour south of San Antonio in Karnes county and by all accounts and according to the TDWP this was supposed to be a great year for deer. I hunt my own property and have been hunting it for 8 years and this year is by far the worst I’ve had. From over all sightings and trail camera pics the deer have disappeared. Just wondering if any one else that hunts south Texas has experienced the same?

I hunt a small tract in Refugio County. I only hunt opening weekend of each season. We shot two decent bucks and saw a few others. A good hunt for us.

We’re down around Spofford and anthrax wiped us out. Other ranches around us too. It’s a nightmare tbh, don’t know what we’re gonna do.

I’d recommend hunting the next 3 weeks. Deer were pre-rut last week. On the cusp of starting in McMullen county.

No telling what might show up.

The road kill I have seen this year is no different than previous. Maybe your neighboring land owners are leasing to a hunting club that is vacuuming the area

Would love to have a place to hunt down there.... Only hunted Texas twice and I was in the Central area between Weatherford and Abilene. Really looking hard at South Texas or Hill Country for my next trip.

I hunt near Carrizo Springs and I haven't had any issues. Hogs are everywhere but they havent messed with the deer for me.

The pigs are gone as well, i trapped over 40 of them from 2019-2020. The last pic of a pig i got was in September.

Victoria County. Not seeing a lot at the feeders other than young bucks. There's enough food sources from the wet summer/fall that the deer don't need to supplement with corn.

Have some land west of Falls City, been way to warm and way to green to get anything moving other than hogs. On a positive note we had the best dove season in many years, heard just the opposite from folks east of 181.

That's not far from me at all, I'm in Hobson. We shot a good bit of doves this year as well but its been too warm, too green, and too many acorns this year for deer.

Spent the last several days in Jim Hogg Co. The one cool morning we had over the 4 days, I saw some amazing bucks. I think they might be getting close to busting loose. I was a guest on a doe dispatch, took my doe, 3 turkeys and 2 Javelina in weather better suited for a beach trip.
