if you're going to slow down you have to do it hundreds of yards away, not 30 feet from the boat you're passing.

i cringe so hard when some guy in a 26' will come to a screeching halt when they see me or another boat.

Has proven true more times than I could count in my experience. We are talking rules of thumb not laws of physics.

I used to think the same thing. However, I've found that lunar charts are more reliable than livestock.

I thought we were talking about rules of thumb and things our "pow pow's" taught us. Didn't realize we had to have factual data to back it up.

For example, I've always been told that when you're turkey hunting, if you hear an owl there's a good chance you will see some turkeys. Do I have to have hard data to back that up?

I was just pointing out that it's a poor rule of thumb IMO. And I've read several articles that disprove it.

But hell, stick to it if you want to.

man I love me some Allison boats!

As to the OP

If a whitetail buck always walked into the wind they would all wind up at the North Pole.

When bowhunting take the first good opportunity at shooting a big buck. The second chance rarely comes, if ever.

The only good armadillo is a dead armadillo

Fish always bite the moment you go to put a dip in.

ETA: Liquid Dawn combined with the washdown is good at hiding oil slicks. Or so I've heard.

Always unload your gun when crossing a fence.

Always have at least two flashlights in the stand.

I did this to my two oldest girls. The third got her license today. She gets her truck in a week or two and she'll be getting the lesson too.

Most others have been said but these are a few from pops:

"Don't wipe your hiney with leaves that are shiney"

"Smart Cowboys ride bitch, they don't have to drive and they don't have to open the gate. "

"Don't spit into the wind"

"Good boots are your best friend"

"Hide/leave your keys by the truck"

"Always wear clean drawers"

To tell approximately how much daylight you have left, hold your hand up so that the bottom of your pinky rests on the horizon. Each finger between the bottom of the sun and the horizon equals 15 minutes of sunlight.
