That’s a shame that an opening weekend success story is shooting teal at daylight. No offense OP.

Can’t know if the big ducks were coming later if you are already out the blind

I ain’t passing on teal the first day to wait on big ducks

Any recommendations on public land that can be accessed by foot and a pair of waders to shoot a duck or 2 within reasonable distance from St Tammany?

Not many big ducks yet, and mainly letting the “little ones” have fun shooting. Plenty days left for big ducks...

Unfortunately from what I’ve seen the last several years there may not be a whole lot other than green wings in many of the areas that used to hammer the big ducks. Some of the blinds off 15 would cease to hunt without teal.

Big Branch canoe launch was a shitshow this morning. Scouted the area last week but couldnt even park there this morning it was so packed at 4am. I give up on that spot. Rather just find a place I can walk in the woods a mile or so and setup in some flooded timber

Two kids in the blind(mine killed his first duck ever, and foot's killed two flying) plus a one day old gun that quit after 3 shots, and we still ended up with 15 teal. Very happy.

Frankly as far as cooking goes I prefer teal to big ducks. I love to shoot teal.

I'd shoot a limit of teal every day.

Cool. Teal ought to be a separate limit. Would be great. A man can dream I reckon.

Is this the Franchi you were speaking if the other day? If so, what’s the deal? I’m considering picking up a 20ga made by them.

Yes. Bizarre safety issue. The safety appeared to be on fire, yet the trigger was obviously on safety. Store owner had never seen it happen before. Also found a defect in the pistol grip cap. It was a display model, and I think it had been dropped or otherwise abused. I got a new in box one to replace it. Will be taking it out in a few hours.
