Either get a degree in herpetology or kill yourself

A herpetology degree is far from required. I could identify every venomous snake in Louisiana by the time I was 6 yrs. old.

this. there are 7 venomous (one of which is harmless) species of snake in Louisiana. Other surrounding states are similar. If you cant teach yourself to ID the venomous animals vs non-venomous you are a tard.

It's pretty simple to learn the venomous snakes in the US, even if you're an idiot. There's only two that are remotely difficult - copperhead and cottonmouth. The others either have rattles on their tails, or are coral snakes. And copperheads and cottonmouths are easy if you halfway try.

easiest for me to identify. i have never seen a rattler but i imagine a big one would be easy. Coral snake is the tough one

I think you might be giving too much credit for most people and the coral snake identification

Had about a foot long cottonmouth on the edge of my carport last week with the cat giving me a heads up that it was there. Put it in a bucket and transported it out to the woods.

My uncle about had a heart attack when I told him I didn’t kill it.

When my wife starts doing 10% of the "things" I ask her to do, I'll start doing all the stuff she wants. But I'm still not killing a snake for the hell of it.

I have been in this house for 25 years and never seen a rat

One night when you're bored, talk a walk out to that tree where the snake was and shine a flashlight up in the branches. I will bet within about 5 minutes you'll change your mind about killing rat snakes.
