What kind of god forsaken useless excuse for a reptile is this? All I know for sure is it's a dead one.

Copperhead for sho! Eta: very aggressive. I've been hit twice by them over the years but luckily did get thru boots or leggings.

The head doesn't look like a copperhead. I wish people would post better pics of the head when they wanted an ID. It's the most important part of the snake id.

Not sure if you are in LA but when I kill a snake I go to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for identification. It has a pretty extensive "database".

The head looks like it has the strip on the side like a cotton mouth plus it look stumpy. If there was a better pic we could tell for sure

I agree. That head doesn't appear to be nuclear, to small, no poison sacks, compared to the rest of the body. Plus, the end of the tail is to thin.

How big was it? Doesn't look very big compared to the grass, but hard to tell.

Posting the belly of the snake also helps in identification

It looks small. The tail looks thick like a moc. Idk.

I've never seen a cottonmouth with such vivid colors. The ones down here are black from the get go. Probably due to filthy muck they live in.

H2O snake.

They are aggressive as hell because they mad that everyone kills their kind because of improper ID an irrational fear.

Congrats, it's family is now plotting to kill you in your sleep.
