The new M&P compact 2.0 will be a mid size 9mm with a 15 round magazine and a 4" barrel like a Glock 19, VP9, and PPQ.

I'm very excited for this as most M&P fans likely will be! Happy that companies are listening to their customers.

Will it have the same trigger that will need to be changed out?

I doubt it the trigger on my mp45 2.0 is light years above the one on my 1.0.

The 2.0 is so underrated in my opinion.

Are the slides on the m&p9 as stiff as the ones on the shields? I had a shield who's slide was stiff as all get out.

I fondled a new 2.0 at Bowie the other day and it seems they look some of the tips from Apex for their new design. The mechanism for the improved reset is very similar to the Apex RAM and the sear appears to be similar to an Apex sear.

I still hate the shape and the hinge in the middle so I will likely change it to an Apex even with the new one. The biggest gripes with the factory M&P trigger for me is the long take up and the weird feel of the trigger hinging. A one-piece solid Apex trigger with the FSS kit solves both these problems.

Hmmmmmmm. Was never a fan of 9mm but this sparks my curiosity. Been a while since I bought a gun too...

Will they ever do away with that trigger safety setup? It's horrible.

I don't know when they'll abandon it since they've invested in it for over 10 years. It's definitely improved with the 2nd generation but I still hate the feel and takeup and the mushiness associated with the two-piece trigger. I think the FNS9 is a good example of a better way to do a two-piece trigger.

But I can say with confidence and experience than an Apex forward set sear and trigger completely transforms the M&P platform. My M&P Core and M&P9c are exponentially easier to shoot accurately with those triggers. It can be a bit annoying for some people to need the trigger upgrade but the average lay person will likely be happy with the factory one.

Was there a complaint about the original Shield 9MM?

an M&P with the full apex treatment is by far the best striker fired trigger. I handled one that felt like a 1911.

I think the shield being the best selling single stack 9mm for multiple years showed that the gun is a winner.

I don't know of many large issues with them but I don't own one so could be wrong.

Have both an M&P and PPQ with Apex upgrades, my PPQ is the favorite of the two. Factory trigger was great as is, but Apex really perfected it as far as my tastes go

I don't either. Although I just sent one back to the factory for a buddy of mine. The thing barely put a dent in primers. Never fired once. I think it is a faulty striker spring.
