For someone that just got embarrassed on an edgy google line, you sure love the key word defensive.
Dan, I know this is difficult to comprehend but if you don’t happen to know anyone that sells silver labs in Lousiana, I don’t really care about anything you have to say. Thanks for participating but have a good night

I have no advice on where you can find a sliver lab in LA.
I would encourage you to dig a bit deeper and find out why the lady in your life wants one of these dogs. In general you run a bit higher risk for health problems in these dogs vs some standard labs - so if you do get one make sure you have insurance from day one b/c there's a decent chance you'll need it.
Their color is really the only reason to consider them at all and if you're one of many dilute color dog owners to have a pup with skin and hair problems even that will be gone.

I have seen 3 so called Silver Labs, I think AKC actually recognizes them as Chocolates, and all 3 sucked arse as hunting dogs. All of the 3 became house dogs. 2 of them had serious skin issues.
To the OP, if you are getting a Silver just to have a cool looking dog, more power to you for dropping a grand on a sofa magnet. If you want a real Lab, stick to a proven liter of the colors AKC actual recognizes.

If you had been intelligent enough to read the post you responded to, you would have understood that a “real lab” isn’t my concern (whatever that means).
He means you are seeking a mutt. Weimaraner / Labrador Retriever.
The AKC hates people like you and the people that breed these mutts.

I'll ask my cousin where he got his. No shite the dog will close the door behind you. A few of his pups have won field trials. He was really careful about where he got his. There are so few that inbreeding a big problem and that is where a lot of the health problem rumors come from.
This dog is all around good. Ducks, dove, blood, hes good at it all. Not great at any one but decent at them all
Edit: jeebus they have some haters itt. It's like they are hoping all silvers are pieces of shite. They need to do some reading.

Have your friend get a DNA test on his "Silver" I guarantee that it is a Weimaraner Mixed Breed. GUARANTEE.
But nobody that wants one is willing to admit that it isn't a recognized AKC designation. The people that sell them are degrading the Labrador breed. ONLY Black, Yellow, Chocolate are Labs. I have a Yellow. Her sire was on the cover of Labrador Quarterly twice. I never see any "Silvers" on the cover of Labrador Quarterly. Silver Labs

Weimaraner is basically a silver lab.

You'd be wrong, since DNA testing in dogs only tell you the specific parents of the dog, nothing further.
But you are likely correct since the two registered breeders who first introduced the dog, Dean Crist (Culo) and Beaver Creek Labradors, got some of their stock from a breeder, Kellogg kennels (L.E. Kellogg and Harold E. Kellogg), who also bred other hunting dogs including Weimaraners.
Sivers are not recognized as silvers by the AKC, but can be recognized as Chocolates since they are in fact a chocolate based dog with a dilution gene turned on that causes the silver-gray coat. Note all Weimaraners have this gene turned on which is part of why that is a common suspicion.

Weimaraner is basically a silver lab.
Maybe OP should have his significant other read this and proceed from there? If it changes things this MAY have been well worth the post and if not he's gotten a bunch of got free advise for no real effort at all.
