Easy there.

I'd still never own one. Just makes me want a hand gun more than before. I'd shoot some more before buying, but if I had to guess, I'd get a CZ75 variant.

The only thing worth quoting in that horribly overrated disaster of a Coen film.

^^^^This -- and the old "grip angle isn't natural" are the two things the rookies//internet experts use as their reason(s) to hate or love a certain firearm.

Both "arguments" are really dumb (sorry -- I tried to think of a nicer adjective and failed).

Damnit it! I read through this whole stupid thread just so I could say:

What did you shoot it with? A Judge?

You now this didn't happen -- or else he'd have posted pics of that glock pulverized into a pile of microscopic particles.

Judge = shock & awe (or so I've read).

I'm not a rookie.
Although I do post on internet forums, I've never claimed to be an expert in self defense handguns. What I share is, for the most part, like everyone else here, my personal experience. Whether anyone agrees w/ me, I could care less. A lot of what goes on here is sharing of experiences and discussion. There are a lot of opinions on here I don't agree w/, but I don't recall having ever called their arguments really dumb.

Nevertheless, my experiences handling a number of semi-automatic handguns has been like bapple's; I find the grip angle of the 1911 more natural to me than that of most other semi-auto's. Consequently, the 1911 naturally points better and quicker for me. Again, I'm not not an expert, but I've read of many experts who've had similar thoughts. OTOH, just because gun A doesn't naturally handle as well for me as does gun B doesn't mean I "hate" gun A; it just means it's not as well suited for me as is gun B.

What I do think is really dumb is how frequently a simple discussion on this forum ends up degrading into insults.

Alx Tgr,
Welcome to the world of Glock. Although I'm not a big fan of Glocks for my personal use, I recognize they have a lot of good traits as a self defense gun. Glad you had a good experience. Who knows, you many end up w/ a self defense handgun after all.

If I grabbed a Glock I would not be able to point-shoot in a stressful scenario with success. Of course this can be fixed with training but I don't own any Glocks to train with.

Actually, once you picked up the Glock it would instill in you the desire to fire it while holding it sideways, thus your targets would not go over the assailant's head. You'd still totally miss, though.
