Who’s had it or has it?
How long did it last and how do you deal with it.

I’ve had ringing for 3 days in one ear and I’m getting worried.

Buy a suppressor and wear ear muffs or plugs, save what hearing you have.

I’ve had it for north of 30 years. I don’t think it’s going away.

Wear ear pro.

It’s called tinnitus.

I’ve had ringing for the past 25 years.

Sleep with a fan so your don't notice

It's funny, if we are outside at night I can hear a train passing 7 miles away through the woods.

But if the wife says something while facing away from me, I hear nothing but garbled nonsense.

It's especially bad in a room with any kind of background noise. I can't understand what people are saying.

Ringing here since about 1994. Gets worse every year. Got some hearing aids a few years ago that are programmed w a pitch to counteract the tinnitus, but it ain’t perfect. Really don’t wear them unless I have an important meeting ??

I have had tinnitus ever since .mil rifle qualification. I have looked for "relief" -- ENT docs say there's no cure. Friend has looked into the online ads for cures - none worked.

As was already said, work at retaining the hearing you have.

I work w ENT docs everyday for the last 20 years - they are right.

As stated above, there are some new model hearing aids that can be programmed to offset some of the ringing - but it’s far from perfect.

I never wore hearing protection and have duck hunted for 40 years.

Correct response is - work to protect what you have…. And make sure your kids wear it. I haven’t been good at that w my son, ashamedly. His mom reminds him but I don’t press it enough.

Gonna start today!

You cannot get hearing back and every shot without ear pro causes hearing damage. It is significant. There are people on here that say it's part of hunting and it's part of the culture but do not listen. Buy a silencer and buy ear pro. Preserve what you have.

I suspect you and I picked up a lot of ours in the same place.

Problem with duck hunting is that its so social, that you need to be able to have a conversation.

I've been meaning to buy either some aids or ear pro that amplifies so I can talk, and have protection.

Actually they are making advances in hearing loss reversal. I heard about this earlier this year and it sounds promising.

MIT study

quote:

The biotechnology company Frequency Therapeutics is seeking to reverse hearing loss — not with hearing aids or implants, but with a new kind of regenerative therapy. The company uses small molecules to program progenitor cells, a descendant of stem cells in the inner ear, to create the tiny hair cells that allow us to hear.

Hair cells die off when exposed to loud noises or drugs including certain chemotherapies and antibiotics. Frequency’s drug candidate is designed to be injected into the ear to regenerate these cells within the cochlea. In clinical trials, the company has already improved people’s hearing as measured by tests of speech perception — the ability to understand speech and recognize words.
