Amen Brotha! I want to make sure Lil Josey can own one down the line.

Conversations like this are unsettling for me.

1. this talk of "they" and the banning of things. If "they" ban this then I guess I'll do that. It took us a little while to get here, but it sounds like most of the citizenry has accepted the notion that we serve at the government's pleasure and not the other way around. At our founding the government was an extension of the individual. It only had power granted by individuals. Now it's vice-versa.

2. Many of my weapons are designed for killing a lot of people fast. I own them so that if I ever need to kill a lot of people in a short amount of time, I have a chance of getting it done. Period. Hobbies and sporting uses have no place in these types of discussions. They are great, but our fundamental RIGHT is self-defense against enemies foreign or domestic. The other stuff is secondary. I think some people tip toe around this point a little.

3. In my experience, people who believe the government should not only have the power to disarm US citizens, but should go ahead and do it are not the ones you should spend your time trying to sway. They should be brought forward and heard in order to teach freedom-loving people that there is a manifest threat to our rights and liberty and that their efforts are necessary to preserve those freedoms.

Yikes.

OK here's a little what if for ya.

What if, 100 grandma's spread across the USA made a facebook page where they all agreed that on a set date and time they would take cookies down to the closest federal government employee they could find then blow their brains out.

You know, kind of a 100 Grandma Flash Revolution kinda thing.

do you know how asinine this shounds

This thinking without realizing it may never stop is scary. Too many think this way. The problem is, what is next? It started with full auto, but it wont stop with AR's. Why the hell are people ready to hand over their rights is beyond me.

No.. a huge deterrent to the invasion of switzerland is the fact that they dont go out and piss people off. On top of that the world has changed from the Roman empire days where it was basically a land/population struggle... and they always wanted more.

logical thinking like this is getting smaller and smaller in this country... The gun culture has constantly voiced that it wants guns to "protect" itself.. its that aggressive stance that causes the other side to want to take it in their warped attempted to prevent conflict...

The issue should boil down to basic individual rights... but it doesn't

if you truly believed that you would be advocating for the right to own more advanced weapons... It might make you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside having your AR-15... but it won't do shite against a US govt that has turned way evil and wants you to fall in line.. and enforces it with military action.

Sure it will. Have you missed the last 10 years? Now, multiply the OpForce by 30 and divide the aggressor by half (because half aren't shooting Americans on American streets, period) and tell me what can and cannot be done with 250 million small arms.

Thank you. Finally someone willing to admit that they own the guns so they can take on the US Govt or because they want to have the option of killing a lot of people.

If I owned one it would be purely for shits and giggles. For the cool factor, to be able to say I killed a deer/hog with an AK, shoot at beer cans and make my friends jelly, etc. I don't think I could take on the govt regardless.

Meh

I don't think the US military would ever engage in a military campaign against US citizens.

I like it much more as a deterrent to foreign nations. If the shite hit the fan and a ground force actually attempted to do an old school invasion, they'd be fricked between the US military and the armed to the teeth civilians.

If that really happened the govt would be handing M-4s out to any abled bodied man.

I doubt it.

I'm 100% for responsible citizens being heavily armed as a deterrent against a whole bunch of things.

Oh I am too but I seriously doubt any hostile military forces will ever come here to face off against our military.

There are LOTS of people out there willing to commit suicide based on religious conviction or other things... and if a strike came by multiple armies... not just one? a true possibility of the future!

I'll never underestimate what measures people are willing to go to. Look at the Vietcong.. didn't they chop off the arms of the children we helped by giving them vaccines or medicines just because they wanted to make a point that they would receive NO help from us whatsoever? And no, that's not just from apocalypse now... I did my fair share of yahoo answers to believe that's a validated fact, based solely on conjecture.

Anyway, point is... there are insane people out there.

Guns exist to protect ourselves from other humans. Coincidentally, they are extremely proficient tools or hunting.

Guns should exist. People should own them.
