From what I’ve heard, there’s not many ducks around and no one knows where they are. Friend went to the opener in ark last week and they fired 1 shot in 2 days

Yikes

All I’m hoping for is some grey ducks and a mallard here or there.

A buddy hunted this morning in Ark right across the line, they smoked them. Said birds are just making it down from the front.

Record numbers of ducks soon to be reported. 22 consecutive years of spectacular numbers.

That area is pretty dead right now for the most part. I know of two blinds that kill 600-1000 every year and they killed 8 combined between the two last Thursday and Friday. Every farm in the area I have talked to is mostly struggling. There is simply not enough water to hold any ducks and what ducks were around before the First Split opener have gotten pounded pretty good. Only water is flooded fields with blinds.

I'm in the air now. Last week's WMA survey showed a big increase in birds, including big concentrations of birds at the mouth of the river and the highest number at Rockefeller in 15 years.

Expectations are high for this survey, but we'll see.

I made a deer hunt at my stand in Morrow this afternoon. I am bordered by a rice field to the south and one on the west. I saw close to 1000 big ducks in the south field. At dark, literally thousands of ducks flew over my stand at about 40 yards high. Had flocks of teal up to 200 plus pass by. Needless to say, I had a hard time concentrating on deer(saw 2 at dark). Also thousands of geese in area. If we have 10% of that in Pecan Island Saturday, it will be epic.

I got some pics from this past weekend just into Arkansas...straps of mallards in the woods. They said birds were back in south AR and NELA. Got report from our place in East Carroll on Sunday and our field was loaded up...I’m so fired up for this weekend!
