That's funny. I heard quite the opposite. Buddy of mines uncle works for LDWF and he said there are a shite ton of birds around the Whiteville area. That hard freeze supposedly brought them down. I will report back after killing our limit this coming weekend.

I saw those birds on the way back to the coast from Catahoula Lake. A big pile of snows in that area as well.

I never know about totals until I see what the other observer counts and crunch the numbers, but we saw a lot more mallards on the first 11 lines yesterday vs November, and a huge number of birds between Little Pecan and Grand Lake, and north of White Lake. Catahoula Lake wasn't spectacular, but it was better than November, especially at the south end where pintails, ringnecks, and cans were stacked up. Still got 17 lines to fly and we are a half-day behind because of aircraft breakdown.

Where do you hunt? The birds I talked about were about 1 mile south of WPA Rd not far from Morrow.

My blind is about 4 miles north (as the crow flies) of WPA road. Closer to Whitehall than Morrow.

Know the area well. Y'all should do well Sat. Most birds I have seen in years yesterday. I have had the deer property for 22 years and can not remember more.

Two years ago, we went out there the weekend before the season opened to brush the blind, and I saw more ducks than I've ever seen in my entire life. We did well that year. This year has started off better than that year for us. Although, we have a different blind than we did that year. Changed from an island blind to a levee blind this year. But I'm looking forward to the weekend. Hopefully I can fill the freezer. I gave most of the birds we killed in the first split away to those hunting with me who don't get to go as often as I do.

I hope so. I know someone who hunts white Ville and they only had 7 ducks the 1st split.
Duck pickers in pecan island said the season has been awful for them.
