I know I’ve seen variations of this topic but please recommend a scope for the following: I’ve got the gun narrowed down to a Bergera or Tikka. 99% of shots will be 300 and in, not looking to adjust dials for longer shots. Just want a high quality scope to zero at 200 yds, lot of light gathering for late in the afternoon

I’ve had a Remington 700 .708 I’ve used for 25 years. Want to buy something new and start with the scope. Thanks

Same answer I always give, ESPECIALLY with such a nice lightweight trim rifle

Leupold vx3 2.5-8x36 in talley lightweight rings. Its as lightweight of a package as you can get while still having very good glass and a very durable scope. Can be caught on sale for $400

I have 2 of them and IMO its the perfect general purpose hunting scope.

I think im going to order a mark3HD 3-9 soon. Not sure why, but I feel like since I have a big long barreled rifle that shoots really good, I need to shoot some far stuff with it.

Budget = $500. Would spend up to $1k if there’s justified benefit. Thanks

Will check out the newer Leupolds. Current scope is an old Leupold (30 yrs) 4x-10x, not sure of reticle size but on smaller end

I have Leupold VX 3, 3.5x10 x40 on .270 and 7 mm Mag.Have never felt I needed anything else.I’ve killed a good many deer between 150 and 250 yards.
2.5x8x36 on my wife’s 30-30,It’s a fine scope also.

Glass is somewhere where you cannot overspend. Step it up to the 1k, buy a Meopta Meostar R1 or Leupold VX5 3-15x44, and be done.

Man I dont agree with this at all anymore. If you can clearly see as far as you can shoot after legal shooting hours, what's the advantage of being able to see more clearly than that? Everything $400+ adjusts good and holds zero that I'm aware of.

I dont see where a budget-concious buyer gains double the value in a $1k scope vs a $500 scope these days if he's not going to twist turrets.

Those are the two I was going to recommend.

Just looked on Leupold website, they have the 3.5x10x40 with Firedot reticle,MSRP $700.THAT’s what I would get.I have 2 Leupolds with Firedot, really like them for evening hunts if you have any hogs.I missed some hogs late because I couldn’t see black crosshairs.

I’ve been all in for Leupold for a good many years.I’ve got about 12 scopes and 4 binoculars.A couple of my scopes are 30 years old and still clear as a bell.
Part of my issue is that there are so many scopes on the market I get a headache looking at all them and trying to decide.I have looked at a lot of other scopes my last few purchases, eventually I just say frickit and buy a Leupold.
I feel they are a good value for the money, they stand behind their products and they aren’t made in China.

Just put a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15-42 on my Savage Ultralight .308. Glass is better than a VX-5 Leupold. Has an illuminated reticle and has return to zero stop. Only weighs 22 ozs as well

You can buy from Europtic for $899.00

I highly recommend a scope with an adjustable objective or side focus feature. Pretty much all centerfire scopes have the parallax set at 100 yds. So at 100 yds., the intended target (paper or animal) will have the best, clear, focused image. At ranges shorter or longer, the image view can slightly be out of focus. With a Side Focus you can adjust the parallax for optimum clarity and vision, regardless of distance. .. 25 yds to infinity

here's an example of a Leupold 4.5-14x40mm with SF

So I caught a minox on sale, it has German glass. Excellent in dark conditions and it is very clear. Retail was $650ish, on sale for $319.00. Excellent bang for the buck in my opinion

Minox
ZA5 3:15x42
Schott German glass

A scope I am sure no one has mentioned is Meopta's new for 2022 and just released, MeoSport R 3-15x50mm RD scope. It has a 4c/crosshair reticle, turrets, SFP, 30mm tube, and an illuminated reticle. It might not be the best of all worlds but it will get the job done for you in many ways and at $449 in the US, with a 30mm mount, I think it would serve your needs very well. Plus, at similar price points, Meopta glass whoops VXiii glass every day. These just came out at SHOT Show last week and will be in the US in Feb.

I paid $500 for a Trijicon Huron and it's very, very comparable to my Razor. I think their new scope lines are some of the best values going right now. They made it a little confusing with all the names but there's basically 3 lines. Huron/Ascent, Credo/Credo X adds illuminated reticles, Tenmile/Tenmile HX for long range. I think the glass is the same throughout but I haven't been able to confirm that.
