I had never seen one of these before yesterday afternoon. Evidently passing through during migration time, sorry for the crappy zoomed phone pics, didn't have my good camera handy.

I had one earlier this week. My first ever. Larger and more striking than I expected. Baltimore oriole as well. Another first for this yard.

We had 2 males and a female a couple weeks ago. They hung around for a week or so, but gone now. First time seeing that species too.

Have only seen 2--one at Peveto Woods a few years ago, and the second a few weeks ago at the house.

Pretty birds. Wish we could get them and others to the feeder, but with the woods around the house (and plenty of caterpillars), birds just aren't interested in seed around here right now.

Never seen the rose-breasted before.
Have seen blue grosbeaks migrating through before in the field behind our old house a few years back. Threw me with the black mask, but once I got binocs on it I was thrilled to realize what it was.

We have plenty of the in Alaska. Pretty tame birds. They aren’t shy at all.

I usually have a half a dozen stop for a couple of weeks at my house in the woods (Florida Panhandle). Black oil sunflower seed their favorite. Just after the pecan trees put on their catkins is the time.

I've seen them in the migration through the last couple of years.

But, living in East Texas it appears we lost most all of our bluebirds in the February freeze. Anyone else missing bluebirds? We used to see a ton of them. I've seen none around my birdhouses this spring.

Have not seen bluebirds, but we had 2 indigo buntings at our feeder for a couple of days a couple weeks ago. Never saw that species before either.

Rose-breasted grosbeak

My brother sent pictures from a couple last year at his feeders just south of I-210 in Lake Charles.

I saw my first Baltimore Oriole in Louisiana last spring in downtown Lake Charles. A couple of times over 2 days and it was gone.

Our neighbor has bluebird, wren and brown thrasher chicks at this moment.

Think I saved a bunch of them when I caught a solid 6 ft black rat snake headed through my yard towards theirs this past weekend.
Grabbed him and took him about 400 yds away to a major creek and threw him across it to the other side. He may make it back but was last seen heading due South away from our neck of the woods.
