Im looking for a scope that presents a really clear wide view for my tika 30-06 and 308. I occasionally shoot up to 300 yards. But I still also make a lot of shots from 30-100 yds. I want to be able to pick up a deer quick when it’s close and still make that long shot if needed. Money is not an issue.

With quality glass, the 50mm isn’t needed. Start with the Nikon Monarch 5s and Leupold VX3s and go up from there.

I love a tikka and I love good glass but I’m not putting a Z6 on a tikka

That’s like putting 10k worth of rims on a cutlass

I’ve got a Cabela’s/meopta 4.5x14 50mm that is incredible. I’ve always had cheaper older scopes but finally got a good clear one. They marked them down last year to $350. Should’ve bought a half dozen.

Cabela’s used to run really good sales on scopes. Now that they are owned by Basspro, I’m scared those days are over, but I would definitely give them a look.

2.5-8x38 is the ideal scope IMO

Swarovski. Some of the finest glass you can find.

I have the Z5 3.5-18x44 BRX-HEAVY and absofreakinglutely love it. I bought it for $2000 at Bowie Outfitters in BR right before the Z6 came out (MSRP at that time was $3000 for the Z5). I read a variety of things that all say Swarovski's "Z-series" rifles transmit 97% or more of visible light.

That’s a nice scope but I can’t justify spending double the cost of the gun for a scope.

Bass pro had that z-5 for $1250 today. I also noticed they had a z-3 in $750 dollar range.
I could have swore 3 or 4 years ago you couldn’t touch a z line Swaro for under 900 to 1000.

What would you get with a $3500 budget? It’s for an AR but I do hunt with it more than anything.’

Vortex Viper, Nikon Monarch, Leupold VX-3 or above, Sworaski, Zeiss. Stay with these and you will be golden

And you're 100% correct. In fact, it wasn't even that long ago as I bought the scope October 2016.

If hunting mostly, Swarovski Z8i 2.3-18x56 with BRX reticle. I have one and it’s my favorite scope of all time right now. Put BTF turrets on it and hhnngggggg

If you were doing more target/PRS stuff, I’d get the new Kahles

Doesn't matter what you buy, as long as it costs 12 times what the gun costs.

Interesting that the OP says he will occasionally shoot up to 300 yards. I then see magnification suggestions of 14x and several up to 18x. Do these high settings really serve what the OP needs? I hunt long lanes in CRP and field edges and don’t have a need for much more than 14x.
