Saw Wheeler using a KastKing Skeet Reese Icon reel in a tournament a couple months ago. Figured if it was good enough for him, it was good enough for me so I bought one. For a $100 baitcaster, it's pretty dang awesome. Time will tell on longevity but it is butter-smooth.

eta: ordered the reel. Applied my $22 in points. Reel was $3.13.

There are a LOT of top professional bass pros using KastKing reels now. I bought a few a few weeks ago to try out and they were pretty impressive for the price.

Damn baw, you must have got the last one. Says 1 left $99. The black and green one is half price at $48. Will be interesting if they drop it to $25

Looks like lower prices on other options, even in RH

It's back to $23. They must have found more.

Link?

The link in the OP shows them more expensive. I don't have a prime account though, my wife handles that and that may be the issue for the discrepancy.

It flipped back to $99 in the past hour. Let's see if it goes back down after a while. Check again later. It did this once already. The green one is now $35 The prices are like roulette.

As someone who has never used a bait cast, what is the learning curve?

Got one ordered before the price went up. Just getting back into the game after a long hiatus. What’s a good value rod to pair with this reel?
61/2ft
Speckled trout/salt water

Nevermind, just saw rod in OP

I’ve caught more bass on a 30 dollar Walmart baitcast combo with a 1 dollar spinner bait than anything else in my life

I got one at $23. This reel is really gonna have to suck for me to not smirk a little when I use it.

Nice. I've been checking the spinning reels also. No real sales yet. Just a few bucks off for now.

Who uses a left handed bait caster? Lol

I can't for the life of me walk the dog with a RH bait caster but can with a left. I usually use my spin caster for that. I have a few lefties...It's nice not to have to change hands with the rod.

Added another rod they marked down farther to $49. Looks like there's also a spinning rod for $47. Both around half price.

Picked to the spinning rod with some Amazon points, what's a good spinning reel to go with it? Currently just bass fishing on my family pond, but might start surf fishing again next spring.

Ordered 2 got two next day. They look and feel nice. I’ll bring on to Toledo and leave one here for saltwater. Good deals make me happy.

I would look at KastKing. Like we were discussing earlier they are making pretty good stuff.

Couple buddies of mine swear by those spinners. I’ll be getting a few to try out
