Killers friends said they often put paper towel in pan to absorb grease. He may have put out but left gas on or who knows maybe was going to kill himself

I wonder if there was another confrontation earlier that day about sky blasting that was left out by the only survivor.

The story was kind of hard to follow. Which group admitted to driving over hot and cussing about sky blasting earlier in the season?

The two that were murdered previously had cussed at the old guy’s blind a few weeks earlier (roles reversed in a way)

If the weather was that bad, can’t imagine too much sky blasting going on

Those are some big arse blinds. Story seems nuts, but who knows. I think they are underplaying these guys getting along and the fight with the sky busting, and most likely Vowell had a bout of dementia that pissed him off about the previous arguments and decided to go over and settle it with them. But still crazy, and unfortunate.

i think it was 2 different guys that got in the arguement a month before. they quoted those 2 toward the end of the article

That’s what confused me. Obviously they didn’t quote the guys that got shot

right... from what i gathered the previous arguement didnt directly involve anyone that was there the day of the murders

. May be- but Vowells wife said the fact the young punks were cussing in front of a kid in the blind pissed vowell off even though he wasn’t there.

He was there, just not one that was arguing with the younger guys.

Vowell had been in the blind that day, but he wasn’t one of the men Wright and Petty argued with.

Damn, that was a hell of a read.

quote:

What about the snippet where the authorities smelled the propane from a ways off and found burnt paper towels in the grill? Are they suggesting the old man made it to the blind to warm up or is it the survivor trying to burn down the evidence? That’s an odd part of the story too

I think they were mainly noting what they found but to me it speaks to the diminished mental capacity theory. He did part of his routine but fricked it up and fricked it up in a way that had the potential to be fatal.

Did you miss the part where they autopsy of Vowell showed no signs of blunt force trauma or anything resembling any fatal blows?

Oh shite, I did miss that. Very interesting. Could the blow have knocked him out though and then him lived a day or so and not be noticeable on the autopsy?

Also what I didn’t understand, was why wouldn’t Vowell have gone back to his boat? It sounds like he wasn’t that far from his boat and that it waste deep water right? He made it to land, so I don’t know why you wouldn’t go to his duck blind and warm up or better yet to his boat to escape. Maybe his boat had floated off I have no idea? But my understanding is that Vowell consciously made it to shore and then died later on right?

There are a lot of holes in this thing. Gotta be way more to the story.

Try not to think too hard about what someone of sound mind with good judgment would do, you’ll just drive yourself nuts. Ole baw left his stove on (see above), killed two people, and got hit it the head and thrown out a boat in a storm. Clearly he’s not thinking very straight about how to unfrick himself.

The cripple duck gun that was left in the boat was left loaded or did the old man have the same size shells on him to load it?

It was loaded. The survivor says he tried to yell at his other buddy in the boat to unload the gun but he couldnt hear him.

I missed that. Where does it say that in the posted article? All I saw regarding the autopsy was it showed no signs of dementia
