Hind sight is 20/20 but that gun should have never been kept loaded in the first place. Would have saved that other kid's life probably.

I had a few soldiers homestead a spot around here not far from my blind and another groups blind. I drive up to speak to them about it and they said we used to hunt Reelfoot and those blinds are closer than these here. I said I don't care about Reelfoot, I care about around here. They then say they spoke to the local game wardens about building a blind and they (wardens) say don't build it close to anybody else's blind. I see now why they thought it would be okay after hunting that close at Reelfoot. And I also recommend to them to hunt a blind out here that is not being used which there were several at that time. Could of been me.

I missed that. Where does it say that in the posted article? All I saw regarding the autopsy was it showed no signs of dementia

That's all it said. It's assumed that if there were signs of a concussion or head trauma, they would have disclosed it.

It's also important to note that not all type of dementia are diagnoseable via autopsy. The article also mentioned he went on antidepressants a month or so prior, but that there wasn't anything present in his blood. If he was depressed and went off his meds, it could have played a part in his state of mind

If he had dementia, it can cause you to do strange things

My wife's grandmother had dementia and swore I came over to her house and called her nasty names and was real ugly with her. She was mad at me to the day she died. I was on an oil rig in Brazil when this was supposed to have taken place. Dementia can cause people to do all sorts of crazy things.

There are a lot of holes in this thing. Gotta be way more to the story

Not really, everything supports Crabtree’s story for the most part. He’s told it the same way every time since 10 mins after the cops showed up. It’s possible they had words that day about the same issue, but Crabtree wouldn’t have much reason to leave that part out.

It’s tragic but starts to make some sense when you think about it. Shooter was in the blind when verbal altercation occurred previously, had noted to his wife the other guys had cussed in front of the kid. Was probably off his meds, had demonstrated erratic behavior, and likely flashed back to the day he didn’t stand up to them and snapped.

Yeah, the entire thing is weird to me. If one thing didn't add up, it is easy to overlook. But nothing makes sense here, including stuff the survivor said.

I keep forgetting to mention, Ole boy Crabtree must have loved him some duck dynasty with his haircut and beard.

Also, call me crazy but the pictures of the blinds aren’t that close...I’m not saying I’d enjoy hunting to guys that close but you likely haven’t duck hunted much if you’ve never hunted that close to people before.

ETA: also, what the hell is up with leaving 700 decoys out all season on public waters? And that’s normal? That’s absurd, is that normal anywhere else? Private land, sure. Public lake? That seems shitty to me.

Except for the whole footprint on shore part of the story. The old man made it to shore. He wasn't dead.

Old man was knocked crazy laid down. Water rose 2’ he drowned/ hypothermia floated back in to swamp where he was found

Crazy story, on another note it looks like they still kill some birds on that lake.

I’ve been on that lake four times in the last five years. we didn’t kill shite

Other than time.

I’m not hating on it. I’m sure they still have good days, but we never seemed to time it right.

Beat working tho.

I go through this every year almost. I'm not a dick, just like to hunt and been doin it for over 30 years with no problem. Then somebody shows up and wants to hunt right next to my and several others blind. I tried to explain to the hunters that there are several other blinds vacant and jump in their and hunt. But they want to show up next to mine and the other blind.

You realize that sometimes you can’t make the birds come to you and you have to go to the birds right? Maybe the blinds are vacant for a reason? But you can’t just throw up decoys anywhere and expect birds to show up.

It's a small area and the only duck you are somewhat guaranteed to shoot at are wood ducks early in the morning. There is no food in the area except acorns in the creek sloughs and the reason other ducks land is to water on their flight south. I don't think anybody would be happy if I lay stake 150-200 yards from their blind even if it was public.

3 baws go duck hunting in a public blind during a rainstorm.

Another old baw comes along and asks to hunt with them.

The other baw hops in the blind and promptly shoots 1/3 baws. He somehow winds-up in the same boat as the 2/3 baws that are still alive.

Old baw grabs another shotgun and kills 2/3 baws, then tries to kill baw 3, but he grabs the gun from old baw and clocks him on the head with it, then rolls him out the boat.

Surviving baw tells cops what's up and old baws body is found a few days later

Family of old baw say it's strange as he was a cool baw, but had recently told his wife he had dementia, but not actually diagnosed, he just read about it on Google.

A whole bunch of baws had been meeting up at Sonic to check knuckles due to blind disputes in this area.

So, really, only the surviving baw knows the truth.

Oh shite! That's like movie potential
