I decided on this one. Got it for 4,100 with the 10% discount. I like the vintage look of it.

Does that sage have the little flexible plastic clips on the door rack? If so, be careful with them. They are what I was talking about in my post above.

I don’t know if it’s the same depth as mine, but those feet at the bottom may bump off the long guns on that front row. Maybe it’s just mine though.

I hadn’t really inspected the clips in the door to see how sturdy they are. What was the model you had and how long ago had you purchased it? If you had issues with it, I bet others did too and hopefully Browning fixed the issue. Some type of clip or locking mechanism would be nice for the door part.

Don't agree with that. If they are light enough they could just take them with a dolly and open them later. If you got one that weighs 1,000 lbs they have to break into while in your house. If you have a home alarm they won't have enough time to do that.

it’s a Hawg that I bought in 2019 from Wards in BR. Pro steel had no solution and didn’t seem concerned.

That’s actually a good point, I bet screwing a stack on type to the studs in the wall behind it might prevent that.

It’s funny you say that but the only person I’ve ever met who had a safe stolen was a coworker in Houston. The thieves obviously knew it was there, it was after a remodel. They cut the exterior wall and pulled it out the side of the house.

Every one I've ever dealt with was designed to be bolted to the slab, which isnt hard to do at all. While somebody COULD still steal it, it'd be significantly more difficult than prying the door open or cutting the side out.

You have to decide what your tolerance for risk is just like anything else. You have to draw the line somewhere between nothing and a bank vault. If you have $100k of shite in there, you should have something better than a $800 cheapo depot just sitting on the floor right next to the door to the back porch. If you have $1200 of shite in there, it doesn't make sense to have a $10,000 safe on a stud plate poured into the slab.

You bolt it to the floor and/or the wall. He never says to leave it free standing.

He says only a few mins to cut any safe open with a carbide skillsaw. You go through the sides and avoid the door. Ha, if true…big dollar safes are a scam.

It's certainly true. Most safes have more than half their weight in the door, with giant locking lugs going into 14ga sheet metal formed frames and press broke walls.

You can nerd out REALLY hard on this stuff online. There are some standards out there. Safes that qualify as residential security containers have to pass some break-in tests. There's different tiers of actual break in standards also I believe.

It's honestly a bunch of shite that a regular dude looking for a safe to lock some guns in is better off not knowing.

Mike Wards in Mobile had a Liberty Presidential that someone returned so I bought it at a pretty huge discount otherwise I wouldn't have had enough dough for it. Get one twice the size you think you need and spend every nickel on it you can. You wont regret it.

This is the best gun safe buying advice.

I purchased a Liberty 1776 from Tractor Supply and I've been very pleased with. I really just needed it for storage space of guns and to keep any kiddos visiting with my son out of harms way. Fits the bill perfectly.

In 2020, I bought a Cannon. Not sure what its "gun count" is, but the exterior dimensions are 35" wide x 22" deep x 50 something inches tall. It weights 500lbs, and I bought it from tractor supply on black friday. It normally sells for $899, and I bought it for $300+tax. So far I love it.
