Just saw this and though it I would pass it on. Good chance to take a kid to catch a fish they wouldn't normally get a chance to.

Yes! The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries will stock Rainbow Trout at BREC’s Burbank Park on February 3, as part of the Get Out and Fish program. Get out and enjoy this unique opportunity to fish for the cold-water Rainbow Trout that can only be stocked during the heart of Louisiana winters when water temperatures are below 67°.

Those things were so hard to catch when I tried a few years back. They don't commit to the bait, just nibble on it like they're used to being farm fed. But it was so rewarding to actually set the hook on one and catch it.

Went last year and it was shoulder to shoulder fishing for them
Didn't catch any you pretty much have to go right away before all the baws clean them out

In GA, they publish the stocking dates/locations a week after they stock to avoid this kind of situation where you have baws literally waiting on the truck to show up.

They commit to corn.
I just catch and release them anyway, I am not a fan of farm fish.. well I don't think I will be going back since I have other fishing opportunities now.

I caught 30+ this year at Forest Park . Power bait chartreuse bites FTW.

I’ve always wanted to catch them but no luck. Any pointers? What kind of set up do I use and looks like corn is solid?

I always have luck with Mepps Rooster tails. Might take 30 casts but I always catch at least one.

Saw that they are also releasing them at Joe Brown Park in N. O. east on Feb. 3rd.
All you need to fish them there is a fishing license, rod and reel, tackle, ice chest and be sure to pack the AK-47 or AR-15 with enough ammo to make it out alive.

One of my buddies was trying to get me to go and I was all for it. When I saw it was at Joe Brown, I told him I value my life more than rainbow trout

Power bait bites, I plan on stocking the freezer.

What size are these fish? I might go catch some to put in the freezer. For bait.

They stocked Lamar Dixon the week of Christmas and they are still catching them, all different sizes, biggest confirmed size was just shy of 3 pounds, most are much smaller

I have been fishing the ponds where they have stocked trout for close to 20 years now.
I finally quit going because most times the trout don't spread out, but instead tend to ball up in one small area of the lake.
Most of those lakes are shoulder to shoulder fishermen after the word gets out and they are super crowded with people not catching,
The guys who get out there early put lawn chairs in front of the ball of trout and wear them out all day long. Eighty percent of the shoreline is unproductive and you have four or five guys with the prime spot staked out all day.
I've seen it where one guy brings a stringer of 4 fish to an ice chest in the trunk of his car and comes back to his spot where his buddy has been watching his chair, and then start on another 4 fish stringer.
After a couple of days of this, most of the decent trout are gone.
This is billed as being for the kids, but the adults tend to take it over.

Dumb question I know, but how do you know where the fish are balled up?

It's kind of a shimmer on the water most times, but when they are actively feeding on the surface, you see the rings, or rises.
