Looking for a parka style rain jacket...Looked at Columbia, Frogg Toggs, and a few other brands. Don't really need it insulated..just something that when I put it on I don't sweat so bad walking from the parking lot to my office when I forget my umbrella. This is not for hunting so camo is not required. Could be used for fishing though.

How much are you looking to spend?

I have a Simms gore-Tex that is ~20yrs old.

My daughter has a Patagonia that is really nice. My wife loves it...

I've had the Marmot Precip jacket for a few years and love it. Will never use an umbrella again.

Bought it for a trip to Glacier National Park and Banff. Did a great job keeping me dry. When zipped up all the way with the hood on, you will remain dry.

It doesn't come down as low as a parka, though. There are armpit zip vents to help with the heat.

ETA: When it's zipped up and the hood is on, I like how the hood hangs straight out from my head a little bit to keep rain off out of my face. Many other jacket's I've seen it where the hood just flops down over your eyes.

Their valley jacket is great and packs up nicely in its pocket. Can get it for less than $100 right now.

Helly Hansen PVC for working, and Grundens Gauge Burning Daylight for nicer engagements.

You will only get wet from the inside with the PVC. The Grundens jacket hasn't soaked through yet, but I've only spent like an hour straight in the rain with it.

Eta: They are both pretty cheap

Marmot Precip jacke

I have this one as well. It vents well and I don't get as hot and sticky as with some of the others I have had over the years. This one has traveled all over the world with me and is still going strong.

I recently got a set from onyx. Same people that make the inflatable life jackets. It was on clearance for $20. It has been an excellent purchase.

Cabelas guidewear goretex jackets are a good deal at the price and they're regularly on sale.

Thanks guys.

I've never heard of some of that stuff, but I'm just starting to look. Trying to keep it under $100 for just the parka...but I know I don't want anything heavy or something when buttoned up creates a sauna inside.

Thanks again!!!

I have an umbrella with a solid carbon fiber core that can be used as a striking weapon if needed. Probably have some Army-issued stuff in a closet that hasn't seen daylight in 10 years too.

I love my Arcteryx Beta AR (worked at an outfitter that had crazy discounts in college) but the price point is crazy. As others suggested you can’t go wrong with a Marmot Precio, OR Helium (if you’re ok with not having outside pockets), and the Patagonia Torrentshell. The best I know of that I didn’t see mentioned is the North Face Summit L5 Ultralight. As far as parkas go, I don’t know of any non-insulated styles but take the brands listed and go from there. Also, if money isn’t a huge issue, definitely go with something that uses Gortex Pro, one of the most amazing repellent materials I’ve ever come across.
