Figured I'd post this up in case anyone else was thinking about doing the same. Cost me less than $25 and 2 hours of time. The backboard of the rack is 3.5x0.75in common board and the rod rungs are made from 1.5x0.75 common board. The height from top to bottom is 40 inches and it sticks 6 inches off the wall. The curves were made by using the bottom 1/3 of a hole saw. This allowed me to get the exact same curve for each holder and was much quicker than using any other tool. Each rung is held in using an 1 3/4in screw and gorilla glue. Once it was all put together I sanded the corners and curves and made sure it was all smooth and then I sprayed Dark Walnut stain over it using a paint gun. Don't think it came out too bad for $25.

I'd be lying if I said that wasn't the reason I went with a 6 rod holder

Looks good, but I hope that's your office or mancave and not the living room.

Did you attach the rungs screwing through the backing board? Any issues with the rungs wanting to twist?

Also, how did you attach to the wall?

Been meaning to do something like this. Looks great. Did you cut the rungs from a piece of board like the backboard?

Yes. I predilled all of the locations that I wanted the centers of my rungs at first, then predrilled the center of the rungs and then ran a screw through the back of the backboard. I put a little bit of gorilla glue between the rungs and the backboard and this has eliminated any want to twist.

I drilled two small holes through the backboard, 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom and ran a nail through both into the wall. I also put a small strip of velcro between the backboard and the wall at the top for piece of mind.

It's a monster sectional and this is in a nook in the living room.
