I just got a new pair of the ranch stocktons. So far I like them and they seem like they be really comfortable once I get them fully broken in. My onlly complaint so far is when I walk the boots seem to squeak a lot. Will that go away once they’re broken in better?

Have a pair of the Cartwrights that are super comfortable and I love the way they look. They didn't squeak at first, but have recently started. It is annoying AF and makes me not want to wear them.

Hopefully some others will have better reviews....

Boots and loafers tend to do that until they get really broken in.

Just takes a little time to break in! No worries at all!

Probably just the steel shank settling in. My Black Jack's did that for a while and it went away.

Thanks for the feedback… hopefully it’ll
Go after with some more wear. I’ve had cheaper boots that never squeaked like this. The quality definitely seems solid though

Both of mine are a couple years old and no squeaking. Should settle out.

I have 2 pairs of the Jacksons that are the most comfortable boots I have owned. The squeaking will disappear with wear.

I had this issue with a pair or Tony Lama boots I got from Sylvester's Western Wear on Williams Blvd. several years ago, but it was only one boot, the right one.

I kept wearing them for a few weeks after it started even though it annoyed me, thinking it would eventually stop. It didn't, so I went back to their store and they determined there was a fault in the construction with the steel shank in the sole not being rock solid held in place.

They replaced the boots with a new pair for me and I had no more issues with them.

I have a pair of nice dress shoes that used to squeak. It drove me crazy. I tried to get it to stop through various methods, but nothing worked. One day I got caught in the rain in them. They were thoroughly soaked. After the shoes dried, no more squeak. That was more than two years ago and still no problems. I don't know if getting boots wet like that is a problem, but it cured my Allen Edmonds wing tips.

Y’all do know you can spend $100 more and get Lucchese’s that will never squeak and are made in the USA, right?

I own 3 pairs and have never noticed squeaking. I hope this thread doesn’t suddenly make me start noticing it

You're not wrong, but Tecovas makes a damn fine boot as well.
