I have purchased 3 lifetime licenses this year. 1 for me, 1 for my son, and 1 for my daughter. I took a picture of the completed application along with a picture of their BC and mine and my wife’s DL and emailed it to lifetime@wlf.la.gov. Within 2 weeks a worker called and took my CC info and I had licenses in hand within 10 days.

I emailed them application and driver license pictures, 6 weeks later got a response to email them a copy of his birth certificate. 2 weeks later I emailed to be sure everything was ok and reply was just yes. It’s been around 6 weeks at least since that reply

And that’s why the hunting was good up there - they burned often for the peckers

I just wish the state would have bought it back in the 70s when it was offered to them, from what I’ve read, offered at appraisal price.

With the legislature in session and the talk about about raising fees, it might be delaying the new apps. It really was an easy process considering the state we live in.

Yep it was a great place. The state leased it for $1 per year I believe

One of the only places around that had pigs you could hunt. There and boeuf wma. How times have changes

Turkey season started on into April up there. Would get to hunt tensas first, then JB. No one complained about them being gobbled out when the season opened in April up there

The cost of everything we/they use has increased. Gas, trucks, boats, etc

Only makes sense

and despite the "sky is falling because of duck dynasty" there are less and less new hunters each and every year.

Some of the best public lands in the country are in Missouri but it’s 100% due to their taxes. A percentage of every sale goes to the Missouri Dept of conservation.

You want nice things, you have to pay for it

I would vote for it, but would feel like I was in the minority even amongst sportsmen

Also the main problem with Louisiana public lands are Louisianans. We trash up everything and fail to abide by the rules. Go to any public campground at a wma or boat ramp or lord forbid a public fishing/crabbing hole and its disgusting
This....... especially the last part

The bill proposes licensing requirements for paddle boats

i figured they would find a way to tax kayakers, they been missing out with the "only mechanically powered vessels need to be registered" so they had to find a way to tax the most popular new thing fishermen are using

Not going away but they are going to get more expensive according to the document posted by Loup on page 2. LINK

Currently $500, proposed increase to $1000.
Currently youth are $200 or $300 depending on age, proposed increase to $500

Some of you will blame it on more hunters and fisherman....and that is not really true. Although populatin has increased the % of people involved in these activities has decreased to offset the population growth. Throw in the fact that everything is leased or requires a permit not and hardly anyone % wise hunts and fishes anymore.

the comment about paying to hunt the kings wildlife is 100% correct. This is nothing but more removal of freedoms and more bull shite control. I shouldnt even have to pay to feed my family, just more horse shite from a corrupt government.

So much ignorance in one post.

Then grow your own damn food. This isn't 1821, bub. It's 2021. Everyone can't go shoot whatever they want and expect there to be deer and antelope running around freely into the future. Put some skin in the game.

Yes. That's what it still shows on LDWF website and I paid $500 for mine about 5-6 years ago

Folks shooting whatever they want brought about the current management practices. We are lucky to have any big game to hunt at all. We came pretty damn close to not having any.

That's my point. But posters like LSUrandomnumberguy don't seem to understand the history of wildlife management in this country, which is why they run in here with the same ole ignorant take on LDWF and license fees.

I agree, there needs to be restrictions on hunting, I'm a brown it's down and I know that's frowned upon by many here. I only kill 2-3 deer a year and that's plenty for me. I do think it's getting more and more difficult for many people to hunt. Some on this board wish all public lands should be bought out by investors or companies, and like that leases which are owned by private businesses can keep raising rates. I understand their line of thinking, but none of that is good for the future of hunting.

Every time a public woods gets shutdown and goes to private leases that knocks people out of the equation to hunting. Not everyone has the means to travel a long ways. If your closest spot was 20 minutes and now it's an hour, especially those of us who drive old trucks that's a detriment to hunting like you use to. If private leases keep going up, that knocks more folks out of the equation. Most people aren't lucky to have lots of family land or the money to buy enough to hunt on.

If raising the license fees helps to prevent future shutdowns of public land and help the wildlife habitat in other ways, I'm all for it. Damn near every parish in our state should have public hunting in at least one area, if not 2 or 3. Not much can be done about lease rates, or nothing I know of, but when folks get priced out of leases, they should hopefully have the public options that aren't an hour away. I mean this is Louisiana, I should be able to close my eyes and throw darts at a map and feel confident it's gonna land on some rural public hunting land. Weird rant, but I've seen enough people give up hunting due to less public access and lease rates going up.
