I think those things are supposedly to keep your ears and nose from being eaten by skin cancer. And you can die from it, too. I'm a big hat and sun screen kinda guy.

Hah. I can't grow a beard to save my life.

The facemasks are awesome btw. I hate applying sunscreen and bug spray and usually end up wearing long sleeves and a facemask and gloves. Saves me from melanoma.

They're especially awesome on overnight or double overnight offshore trips when you would otherwise be applying sunscreen a dozen times. shite gets in your eyes when you're sweating.

Me and my Hoo-Rags have a love hate relationship. I love them because they keep me from having to put sunscreen on constantly, and I hate them because i always forget I have it on when I go to spit.

okay so whats up with the facemask crap

I start wearing one once it gets hot enough for me to sweat off sunscreen. I would like to not have skin cancer, and I spend an average of 3 days a week fishing all day in the sun. Longsleeves, big hat, and buff will keep the sun off of you.

Blocks the sun.
Keeps the gnats off.
Warm in the winter.
Dip it in the ice chest in the summer for a quick cool off.

They are pretty useful.
