Bought a Hulkman jump starter from Amazon - arrived yesterday and wouldn't take a charge (stuck at 81%). This was Model Alpha 85-S 20,000 mAh.

I called the customer service number on the instruction sheet and got some middle eastern dude who had me describe the symptoms and then suggested I go get another wall charging unit and see it that would work. (As if I keep a bunch lying around).

I asked where he was located (so I could decide whether to have him replace the unit or ship it back to Amazon). He refused to say where he was located.

Just shipped it back to Amazon for a refund - what brand should I try now ?

Watch that review guy on YouTube. Product farm? You don't want Noco.

Not sure what that means but I have had mine for years. Jump starting a vehicle barely puts a dent in it. Carry it on the boat also

I have an Imazing IM27. It started my old 350 chevy with a totally dead battery. I decided it was good enough for my wife to carry around, so I got one for her too.

Haven't heard of Hulkman.

I've got a couple Topvision ones. I've heard of Gooloo and Noco. I think most are basically all the same thing, and they seem to work. I have one in every car of mine, and would recommend everyone have one.

They all ship out at around 80%, that's seemingly the sweet spot for longterm storage of lithium batteries. It did take awhile to charge mine initially, but once it started to bump up, they went to 100%.

I would try to make sure I got the higher-power ones, rated for big V8's, regardless of what car you have. Only costs a few bucks more, and you might as well have more push to your start if you need it.

Project Farm- Lithium Jump Starter Testing
I bought the Audew based on this testing. Has worked great so far.

Noco never tests toward the top when apples/apples reviews are done.

Hulkman had highest rating/reviews on Amazon. The customer reviews there are usually pretty brutal and pretty valid.

But no way I'm trying that brand again. That video people listed showed Audew and Top Vision to be the better ones - eventually everybody needs one, so I hope to find one to put in my truck, my boat & wife's car.

If going this way, find a seller with stock already in the US. I finally gave up on my order directly from the company.

I got a Stanley for Christmas a couple years ago.

I've only used it once and it was on my wife's SUV and it worked like a champ.

No idea on other brands.

ETA I just looked and you can get the Stanley online for around $75-$100.

Halo Bolt. I’ve used it twice on other people’s cars. I can’t recommend it enough.

I've got one I've used for everything from tractors, diesel trucks and ATV's.

Cant' remember the brand, probably Harbor Freight or something, but its been money.
