I've looked at these online to use as a hunting camp. Looks like you can get one for around $10K (depending on size) Question is once you get it to land how much does it typically cost to finish out the inside to make comfortable?

Pretty sure they come from place with inside studs exposed.

I dont know much about this but If you still have to build it out you may want to look at getting a shipping container. I think you can get one for $2,000-3,000 and I'm sure it wouldn't take much more work to get it to the level of a 10K portable building. I've never done it before but you see it a lot in the prepper community.

the best value for hunting camps is to use old shipping containers. they cost around $4k and last forever and are easy to transport to your location and are "for the most part" already weather tight.

companies sell them "as-is" or you can buy them with prefinished interiors from people who resell them.

here is one example - LINK /

and some examples of finished ones - LINK

I helped my neighbor build one out. It's a 12'×24, one end has a bedroom with a set if bunkbeds, the middle is where the full bath is and the opposite end is the kitchen/TV room.

He has 2 sets of bunk beds, a sofa sleeper, 1 small bench, toaster oven a full size fridge, a fake fire place, mini split AC, toilet, lavatory tub/shower, and 2 TVs. He finished his walls with OSB and everything is insulted. He has a little over $12,000 in it.

If you go the shipping container route, get a 40ft high cube. Dont get the standard 8ft height, the extra 12"s makes a big difference.

Do you own the property? If you do I would go with a metal building. I would go with a used office trailer or mobile home if leasing, can be moved easily if you lose the lease. The extra width is awesome. 8ft wide gets cramped fast.

I own the property but there are regs on what you can build. Basically no campers thus pre-fab buildings or build from ground are preferred. I have the neither the patience of skill to build from ground.

Not telling anybody what to do but if time or money is a concern just buy a used camper. For $10,000 you can get a nice 100% ready to go camper and still have money left over to put a cover over it.

Back to my neighbor.... he had his delivered to his house where he could work on it and have local help. After it was built he had the people that delivered it to his house take it the 2 1/2 hours to his lease. I think he paid $400 for that.

Shipping containers are more sturdy but harder to work on.

I've built-out 2 40ft shipping containers. If you have any remedial welding and cutting skills it'll be a big plus. Between the container, insulation, framing lumber, plywood walls, ac/heater, water heater, shower, toilet, plumbing supplies. exterior door, interior bathroom door, 2 windows, and electrical, they were about 12k each.

add another 500-1000 for beer, pizza and fried chicken while building.

I bought mine from a container yard in N.O.. There are a few around here. I would guess that Mobile has a few of them too.

Thanks. Mobile seems to be the closest place. Would there be any that were on barges?

I bought a shed from Graceland and they delivered and set it up for me included in the cost. If you find a dealer close by your land, I'm sure they'd do the same. My 12x16 lofted barn was well under 10K. I believe it was around $3,500.

The majority are off of freighters. Make sure you open and close the doors to make sure its still square. They beat the shite out of them.

They are pretty much everywhere but I’ve bought 2 20’ from this guy. Pick what you want and send him an email and he will quote you including delivery. I had them delivered to Concordia Parish for $450. Containers were I believe $2400.00.

Hey are great for whatever you need but for living quarters it takes some work.
