We broadcasted triticale, dundale peas and forage kale then bush hogged. Let the weed clippings get soaked during rain and watch the greenery start. Easy peasy, no more disc and drag dog and pony show.

Bushhogged and chopped everything this week, almost planted with the forecasted rain but it was starting to show spotty chances of rain.
Forecast now shows 3/4in probably should have slung it. Probably wait till the 24th now.

I’m a big fan of throw-and-mow. Did you up your planting rate compared to dishing and dragging?

As most have said, sprayed, cut, chop and fertiziler are all done.

But sometimes we dont drop seeds untill rifle opener. Depends on the rain, It doesnt take long to run back around just to trow seeds before a good rain is coming.

I threw seed on 6 of the 9 plots yesterday just before a long soaking rain all night basically.

3 plots were tilled and seeded, 1 was sprayed, mowed and I just seeded on top of thatch then pulled drag to help seed reach dirt. Other 2 were sprayed, seeded then mowed.

Hopefully they all come up decent. I seeded them pretty heavy.

I saw Hank Parker on youtube showing his food plot, it was plush last week and the army worms moved in.

Within four days it was nothing but dirt.

He was out of town

Planted in Lincoln and Caddo Parishes this weekend. Son said it rained good in Lincoln last night. Don’t think it rained in North Caddo yet.

For the first time in a long time, I feel like we got everything ready for deer season before gun season opens. Had a bunch of limbs too high for pole saws to cut hanging over the pipeline for several years waiting on the pipeline company to come trim them. So this year we just cut the trees down and drug them off in the woods. Can clearly see a couple hundred yards in both directions now.
