It will be interesting to see what happens with the opener this weekend. With Catahoula so high and the apparent amount of saltwater that has infiltrated some of the coastal marshes the last two weeks I would think a lot of birds will be holding in flooded ag fields in NE and middle parts of the state. There is a lot of new water with more forecasted in some of the fields.

really really need the rain to stop, birds that are here (on dismal fronts so far) are scattered out. No bueno

Once the shooting starts they'll shake up, will be in the Delacroix area Friday AM and both hunts this weekend.

Right. I'd much rather deal with no water and pressured birds at the end of the season than hardly any birds at all the first week. I like my chances with the former, and there's not a whole lot I can do about the latter.

I'll be down there Saturday and Sunday as well...barring tropical storm.

Mr. Reynolds,
Have you completed your flyover of Terrebonne? I would assume it was no where near as good as last year. I have a lease in bayou black and have yet to see the first ringneck. Water is very high and we do not have the vegetation that we're accustomed to having. We have few teal. Please update when possible.

I suspect he is busy counting still and he also has to crunch the numbers afterwards. I think we will hear from him at some point. Also he has the wildlife commission meeting going on right now where they are setting the zones for the next five years for waterfowl season. I suspect that takes up a lot of his time.

The week before the high water from Patricia we had a few flocks of teal, couple mallards and a spoonie on our lease. South of Gibson between the penchant and intracoastal.

I have a feeling we might see some good pics of some bootlip beatdowns this weekend if the reports are as spotty as Im hearing. Need some fronts or some weather up north in a bad way.

Appeared to be a single drake mixed in with the teal. Also had a solo wood duck drake in another pond.

From youth weekenders ans folks brushing blinds last week that I have talked too most areas are pretty devoid of ducks right now - and/or they are spread mighty thin

If a spoony comes in range, I'm firing with no shame.
