What are my current options?

I would probably try early weekday mornings so it wont get crowded.

Been once but before Covid.

How about Palo Alto Rifle and Pistol Club? Shows as 47 miles and there are a couple google reviews within the year

There's Nick's, but it's only 100yds and they allow a bunch of wahoos. The last time I went, there was a loaded gun pointed at me while I was putting up targets. Never again.

Palo Alto is a member-only thing I believe, never met anyone that's a member to sponsor an application.

Heads up before you make the drive.

WLF website says Sherburne's range is close until further notice for renovations.

Palo Alto Rifle and Pistol Club

I'm a member at Palo Alto. I would recommend anyone that wants a place to go shoot pistol or rifle join. It's located a little ways off of LA-1 between Donaldsonville and White Castle.

They accept new members once a year in April and the number of members that they accept depends on how many members dont renew their membership.

The range has a rifle ranges of 100, 200, and 600yds. As well as a 50yd pistol range and multi use range for shooting steel on.

Iberville Parish has a 100 yard range open to the public on Hwy. 1 South of Plaquemine. 12 bucks a day if you aren't a parish resident, cop, or military. Free if you are. You have to buy your targets from them. They have eyes and ears, sleds, spotting scopes, etc. and offer bow, pistol/shotgun, and rifle ranges.

I would 100% join Palo Alto for the 600 yard range alone if it wasn't an hour there and an hour back. You don't see that much distance very often. I think there's a place up near Shreveport (in Stonewall, maybe?) that reaches out 1,000 yards. Beyond those two, I don't know of any places in the state open to the public (I'm including members-only clubs as "public" as opposed to someone who just owns a lot of land they can shoot on) that reaches out past 200 yards. I'd be interested to know of any that you guys know of that get out past 200.

The Iberville Parish range is very nice as long as you are good with 100 yards as a max.

Doesn't Eymard/FTS Outdoors in Cut Off have a 1,000 yarder?

Their Facebook page shows no activity since March of last year and says permanently closed and I can't find a website or anything. I fear they took a dirtnap.

If you live in AP I think you can shoot rifles at the sheriff's range. It's free for residents. Have to be a member at Bridgeview to use the pistol and rifle ranges but their prices seem reasonable if you go at least once a month. Or make the drive to Sherburne.

Isn't that only on certain days though? one or two saturdays a month?

I always felt like Bridgeview's range was kind of a dump.

For Palo Alto, you have to qualify if you are using the 600 yd range. They have the range guidelines posted on their website. They don't want someone bouncing rounds over the berms. But it's a well run club. Driving out there is kind of a haul for me so when i go i plan on being out there for3 hours or so.

Ascension parish Sherrif’s range used to let the general public use it at certain times. Not sure if they still do. I’ve sighted some rifles there before

Bridgeview is $25 month and 100yd. They make you sign a one-year agreement and draw monthly. That also gives you half off all the clays, trap, & skeet. The new management that took over a few yrs ago does a good enough job on up-keep and improvements.
