I was planning on the epoxy. Seems like a job for a large surface though. The only fun part is collecting the caps.

Is there any concern with using wood framing around equipment with open flames such as the grill and side burner? Most of the kitchens I have seen built have used metal stud framing instead of the wood. But I guess its not much different than having a gas stove built into wood cabinets inside of your house....

I framed where my primo is with concrete board then slate tile. With the gas grill, the sides and bottom around the grill are concrete board.

I'm forming a 1.5" thick concrete slab to go under and on the sides of my grill and side burner to insulate the wood. The grill manufacturers sell an insulation kit but their $400 so couple bags of quickcrete is better option. Lol. Plus it will match my countertops.

I don't have anything around my grills but they are not close to anything but brick and they get hotter from the sun hitting them than from the grills.

Update:
Slab is poured, material delivered, should start framing tomorrow :nanna:

Haha, was actually going to get wick to hook me up but a friend was moving out of state to an apartment and gave me a good deal.
All appliances are Blaze, very happy so far, grill cooks awesome, only used side burner once so far so good.
