Pinterest can be good, and well ... bad for your budget.

Agreed...that and Houzz I am glad I built the kitchen/back porch area into the house plans I dont think it cost near as much as if I tried to do something after the fact.

How hard/frequent will the ceiling need to be cleaned/stained/sealed?

Mine is only sealed, did not stain it as I didn't want to take away from the look of the natural cypress.

1 year in, sun barely hits it and still looks brand new.

The beams on the other hand, are a different story.

make sure you keep up with the cleaning and maintenance on that Hoshizaki! I have had to trash one because the previous homeowner didn't.

Yea my reclaimed post are supposedly just sealed and they get sun from morning to noon and they are in bad shape after almost 2 years. Ceiling is stained and gets no sun and looks brand new as I would expect it too.

All of you bastards with these outdoor areas suck. Unless any of you want to invite me over. PS I'll bring beer and whiskey.

I drain and clean it once a month. I also turn it off when I know we are going to be out of town or not use it for an extended period of time to help "prolong" its use.

As my neighbor would say, "it's only $5 more dollar per month added to your mortgage."

Come and join us.

As my old neighbor would say, "if you can finance it you can afford it." Pretty sure he never paid for anything that he financed though

Got my appliances in Friday and started on my cabinets and bar top over the weekend.

Picking up some sinker cypress this week to trim them out. Hopefully start on slab next week if it will ever stop raining!

Yea I'm sure there are other ways I just didn't want that fancy pie shaped stuff...well my knees didn't at least lol. I was glad when the installers mentioned it because I hadn't thought about it before.

I used flat bar for my granite breakfast ledge.

Works great and no angled supports mounted to my cherry cabinetry.

Yes. It's a 9 ft. slab of granite and with the overhang that I needed for eating and seating, I felt the supports were necessary.
