Bapple have you heard anything on this Halo ZIR10x range finder? Supposed to be ranging to 1k yards for a tag of $499.

I haven't. But if you have info, feel free to post it. I'll copy/paste to the OP.

Halo announced a new laser rangefinder called the ZIR10x. The new unit is accurate to +/- 1 foot at 1,000 yards and can compensate for elevation changes. The unit has two modes – an instant spot check and a scanning check. The first measures a single distance and then deactivates the laser. The second allows you to scan several targets and measure the distance continuously. The unit has a 6x magnification factor and runs on a single CR2 lithium ion battery. It is weather resistant. The MSRP is $229.

100000 views, eh Larry?

I hear this fella uses toilet paper, with Larry's face printed on each sheet, to wipe his arse...

For 2016, Vortex Optics introduced a new 1x red dot sight called the SPARC AR Red Dot (aka: SPC-AR1). The new sight appears to be similar to the Trijicon MRO or Aimpoint T-2, but priced closer to the Bushnell TRS-25. The sight uses a 2 MOA dot and is waterproof, fogproof and shockproof. It runs on a single AAA battery. The retail price on this will be $259.

Looks like Vortex is getting in the micro red dot game as well. I hope it is as good as the Aimpoint.

Did Walther hire a Hi Point designer or something? That slide frame is hideously huge!

The MRO is more expensive, the brand is battle tested, and it isn't as good as Aimpoint as far as durability goes. Vortex is entering a market dominated by Aimpoint. That said, this will be a great option for those who are more budget minded.

Than the Aimpoint? I don't think so.

If it's truly $229 and accurate the it will be unobtainable as everyone that's wants a rangefinder will get one.

Sig just released a $499 unit that was supposed to be the best one available, but if this works out sigs will just be left in the dust

It is more expensive than the Vortex. I was saying that MRO is more expensive than the Vortex and even the MRO isn't as good.

Saw on another forum with the success Savage had with the delayed blowback system in their A17 they have come out with the A22, a semi auto 22WMR. Also a pretty neat take down model 42 that has a 22LR/WMR barrel over a 410 barrel.

Slight thread hijack.

Bapple, through powers of deduction, I'm fairly certain I met your pops tonight. Ran into him under the not best of circumstances on Sherwood with my best friend Cooper.

Awesome guy. Really helpful. And if I'm correct, I know your brother from my fraternity days.

Just wanted to let you know I appreciate it. Y'all are good people.

I thought this was a really cool AR from Cobalt Kinetics

They look really cool and the operation is very forward thinking. This could save a completion shooter precious seconds.

ETA: it ain't cheap but it's cool

To each his own...I don't think it looks that good, especially the pic rails at the end close to the muzzle. Best looking ARs to me are still the Warsport LVOA, Noveske Infidel, and Arsenal Democracy AD16.

I mean vortex has been in the mini red dot game for awhile with the Sparc
I'm not quite sure what the difference between this new sparc and the old one other than the new one runs off a single AAA battery and the controls have been moved around. Battery life is exactly the same.
