Help me choose a "red dot" optic and magnifier. Everyone makes them now. Last one I purchased was an eotech setup. are they still king of the hill or have other viable options emerged that give you value for your $$$$. I have a grand in my Eotech setup and would like to come in cheaper on this build if possible.

I don't have nor have I used a magnifier setup so no help there. I did just get the new gold dot from Holoson. The new color looks promising in my office, thats about as far as I have gone with it. It can have the circle dot like the Eotech but also can be just the circle or the dot. Might be worth a look.

If I had a huge budget, I would go aimpoint comp m5s and aimpoint 6x magnifier. Tbh, the LPVO game has made magnifier-dot setups more obsolete. Also, any specific reason you want a magnifier? You can shoot pretty far with just a dot as long as you know your holdovers. If it was me, I would see what I am doing with the gun. I would then go just red dot or LPVO, not magnifier.

Really trying to decide on an optic for the build. Will be shooting subsonics from <100-150yds. I've always wanted an ACOG.. Is that a good enough reason to own one?

Ya. Although if you are shooting those distances, I would suggest the 1.5x acog.

I hear they have a great recoil cycle. If I had to buy a gun for 3 gun, would most likely be a JP.
The Kahles is awesome. Glass is as good as swaro but the optic is rugged enough that some people have deployed with them.

I used to get intimidated before matches by dudes with all the fancy gear until I realized they couldn't put it to good use (present company excluded)
