Pretty nice looking rail
So...is this going to work? How much space do I need between the rail and the asr quick disconnect? It's just a mock up but it's looking like there might be 1/16 or maybe 1/8" clearance. You can see the barrel nut just barely sticking out past the rail...once mounted that's what it will clear the rail by when a can is on.
I have some washers under the brake ( timing washers that came with it) and that might be what gives me that clearence. How thick can that brake be spaced on the barrel threads.

Does anyone have any experience with Midwest Industries quick detach optics mounts? Good or for $30 more go Larue?

I do not, but they are a good company and the stuff I have got from them in the past is top notch.

They used to be ADM, right? but split up.
I couldnt find any really good reviews, but consistently see ADM or Larue recommended, with most saying for a few bucks more go with Larue.
$30 is trivial in the total scope of the build, but here and there adds up. I ordered, I guess I'll see how well is goes back to zero after detachment. Was the final piece of my puzzle on my current build(except some color changes to be made latter down the road)
I'll post a pic up this weekend
Spikes lower
VLTOR Upper
Faxon SS Fluted Barrel
Geissele SSA-E
Geissele 9.5" Rail
Magpul ACS-L
Hogue Grip
Daniel Defense BCG
Leupold VX-R 1.25-4x20 illuminated
MI QD mount

That's not going to work. Those little teeth at the base of the brake need more clearance than that

NOLAGT, Looks like mine goes about a little over 1/16 past those teeth. What length barrel and rail is that?

Almost ready to start building. Everything is in and me and GT are scheduled for Saturday afternoon! I'm doing a M16A4 clone. A teaser:

What "teeth" are you talking about the part resting on the rail that is below the threads?
The barrel is 11.5" from Faxon and the rail is 11' but they say its 10.92 exact.
Can you put a spacer (not a timing washer) under a brake?
Doing some looking at how the rail mounts I think I was eyeing this up wrong and there actually may be a little more room. I did this thinking the barrel nut goes on flush to the receiver. But it wasnt lining up and I talked to SLR about that (and I didnt get the part that goes over the gas tube). They told me that when the barrel is in the nut does not go all the way flush to the receiver....that will give me more room.
