This statement is spot on.

Finished the build today! Now I just need to find a mount to raise the level of the optic a bit and I'm done
Love the OD green with the black

Nice. What's up with that magaclip?

Love the color selection. Might want to take that front post sight off and replace it with a flip up since you have that micro

Nice gun baw.
I'm shopping parts for my first build. I want to mount a scope with peep sights underneath too. What are some sites you shopped for parts?

I got a few from palmetto state armory (although their processing has slowed down a lot in the last few weeks)
Also got parts from midwayUSA as well as amazon (can't beat free shipping with prime)

Not an AR question, but I figured I'd get as good a response here as anywhere else.
I just ordered a scope mount for my M1A and I'm worried that the rail doesn't extend far enough to the rear to get the proper eye relief for my scope. Would a cantilevered scope mount mounted backwards work to give me the extra length for proper eye relief or are they only designed to absorb energy in one direction?

I don't know the answer to your question but I've heard that M1As are notoriously difficult to mount scopes on. Doesn't your precision stock have adjustable length of pull? Maybe shortening it would help some

It would but then I'd question your choice of glass in the first place. M1A's are generally better suited to long-eye-relief scout scopes. Look up the original Leatherwood ART's that were issued.

It does but it may not be enough. It hasn't come in yet so I guess I'll have to see when it does. I've just been looking at pics online and coming up with some possible solutions.

I've got a Vortex Crossfire from a different rifle that I plan on using for now. Might shop around for better suited scopes later.

Keep in mind that M1A's are hard on scopes in general, not as much the recoil but the compounding vibration of the action itself. I originally wanted to do a vintage style setup on my M1A but after looking around I've decided to stick to irons for the foreseeable future.

I'm considering an 18" barrel with a rifle length gas system. Should I go with a regular carbine extension, A2 extension, or the VLTOR A5 system?
If I use the carbine extension which buffer/spring combination should I use?

Unless you want the fixed stock I would do regular 6 position extension and 3.0oz buffer.
If you want to spend a bunch of money for the same result then go with the A5.

ETA: Any idea when you'll be offering cerakote services?

I'm thinking about starting soon and letting patient people drop stripped parts off which I can just work into weekly batches of the desired color. So for instance if you wanted sniper gray you could drop it off and next time I run sniper gray I could work it in. So, color selection would be limited to our production colors and we wouldn't have super fast turnaround. For the foreseeable future we just don't have the time to do single sets in a color. The prep time is about a 2 hour process and bake time is 1-2 hours depending on temp so you need to be doing larger batches to make the best of the time. Once the AR market slows down we would probably have time to offer more colors, but I doubt we ever do any camo patterns...beaucoup time involved in those.
Alot of people have been asking and are cool with a 7-14 day turnaround so it's probably time to start. I'm thinking pricing would be $150 for lower, upper and rail. Again, parts would have to come in stripped.

I'm only planning on the lower, upper and rail and I'd like OD Green. Time isn't an issue for me. This build will probably take several more months anyway.
