He's asking $8,600 which I think is too much. I called a guy who had an 04 Express 18'6 CC with a 2 stroke 90 yamaha on Craigslist and he was asking $6,500. I tild him when I got off that evening I was going to check it out. It was sold in 4 hours before I even got to look at it. Maybe he was a little to low.

Factor in replacing the engine in the next 2-3 years and see how good a deal it is.

That's a little steep for that boat.

That's easily worth $7k. If it is in REALLY good condition, maybe up to $7.5. I think $7k is a fair deal for both parties.

You can hardly get a 14' welded boat with 25hp tiller for $3k, so don't listen to people telling you that.

No idea the hours. This guy is the second owner.

If you go ahead, first take it to a shop to have the computer read out. That will tell everything about the motor, any problems/alarms, hours and at what RPM's/hours ran.

Cost under $100. Very cheap insurance. Back in 2001, that rig sold for under $14K new. You are looking at buying a 13+ year old boat/motor. I don't know what the cost of buying a new motor would be at this point, but I sure it would be more the what the rig is worth now.

Another thing is to deduct an extra $2000 for NOT having the max HP mounted on the boat in the first place. If it had a 125hp motor, value would be in the 7k range at most.

Coco, it only bluebooked for about 6500.

I offered him 6000. He rejected it. Sloopy, it's all yours.

Yeah, and NADA only values it at 6500 max.

He's gonna sit on it for months before coming to his sense probably.

^^^^ This.

MAYBE let him negotiate you up to $3500, assuming compression is good and it runs good (on the water, not hooked up to a garden hose).

That explains why my first thought was "probably asking 8k+". I've seen it there.

I think the aluminum flatboat owners on la sportsman value their aluminum flats way too high. That's a 5k boat. And a 14' with a 15 year old tiller 25hp is not a 3-4k boat.
I did see a couple good looking 16s the other day that seemed reasonable at around 3-4k.

He's just another person on LA Sportsman that greatly overvalues their boat...

People constantly put stuff for sale on there at high prices just to see if they can get it. They're not really trying to sell it.

If you really want to sell something, it doesn't take long at all. If you still have it after a week, you don't want to sell it too badly.

That looks like a $4800.00 rig to me. That's if the motor checks out great.

The problem with used boats and selling them is that most people think they hold value.

What a boat will sell for is what the market is willing to pay. NADA over values used boats big time.
If that guy wanted to sell that boat, he will have to come off that price big time. He needs to do some homework what the market is willing to pay for a 13 year old boat.

He lowered his price to 8500 today.

I'm gonna keep watching this. He'll probably keep lowering it by 100 every few days and sit on it till new years more than likely.

That's actually pretty comical. Umm, yeah buddy, 8600 was too much, but not 8500. Maybe his wife is making him "sell" it.

Look on new orleans craigslist, there are a couple decent possibilities. I saw one 20' with an older 175 Johnson for (I think) $7k. Boat itself was practically brand new. And there is a 17' polar craft (don't know if those are welded or riveted) with 90 Yammi for 8K that is miles nicer looking than the one you posted originally.

It is comical, he has been lowering it $100 a week since listing it.
