I figured you couldn't get a vehicle back there so I would say a come along is your best option. The tricky part will be getting ahold of it.

I meant to update this sooner, but had some stuff going on and forgot about it until TIGERLEE made a thread about burning leaves with the wind blowing.

Anywho, story behind it is that I was out burning the cut foliage NOT the stump, as I had way too much to try and bring to the road for the garbage guys. So I began burning small piles of the cut brush, and the wind began to pick up so I decided to chill for a bit and let most of the smoke clear and reassess if I would be able to continue burning with the new wind conditions.

Well long story longer, I thought I had all of the burning embers and all extinguished as there was little to no smoking in the piles. So I go inside for maybe 3-5 minutes to get a drink and return to a fireball in my backyard. Burned about 30 fence boards in all, about 20 will need to be replaced the others just had some minor burning on the bottoms.

My guess is there were still a couple embers that weren't fully extinguished and the wind reignited them and blew them into the brush. Good news is, I was able to dig up the 95% of the bush the next day.

The next day after I dug it up.

Dig as much as possible up, then get a tiller and till the ground in that area. Make sure to remove all the bits of plant that the tiller pulls up.

Afterwards, water the area and in one week spray anything that grows with 41% glycophosphate. Repeat this process for a few weeks.

Then plant sod on the spot.

I sprayed it with some vegetation killer, seems to be working. I would have it completely dug up by now but I ended up getting a stress fracture in my foot that evening when I went run so tts just gotta sit right now.

I would say kill it with fire, but I see the wooden fence.

I should have been more clear.

Maybe you can you use the backside of the planks to do cedar plank grilled trout now?

No real help at this point, but I think that may be a yucca plant.

The fire wasn't intentional at all...promise.

The boards are just about gone though, the other plants that I'll be replacing with minimal burning might be able to be used for smoking though. Its a good idea but will it work or would there be some skewing on flavor with the wood possibly being treated and weathered??

Pampas grass.

I think that's what it is, it takes the whole "blade of grass" thing too literal though. Need gloves, pants, and long sleeves to mess with it.

Definately Pampas.

My father and I were contracted to deliver all the ornamental grasses at Catfish Town. We moved 100 or so of those dang plants on a warms spring day. Oh how the sweat burned in those cuts.

Yeah you gotta dig it out. Its got a big bulb type root system. You cant kill it by putting anything on it above ground or it will keep growing back. Cant even kill it with fire.

Yeah, that's what I'm in the process of doing, when I was pulling out the other pieces, you could smell the diesel from last year still.

What are you getting at? Do you want to use the fence board for smoking or the other plants that were scorched?
