OB dads, what age did you first take your little girl hunting?

My 4 and 1/2 year old little girl has started asking about going hunting and going to the camp. She’s been to the camp multiple times usually with the whole family, but has asked recently about going to sit in the stand. I know other buddy’s who have brought 4-6 year old little boys, but at what age did y’all first bring your little girls hunting?

The first time I brought my daughter was when she was 4. I had a doe on camera always coming to the plot at 4:20. We got there at 4 and sure enough the doe showed up. We watched her for about 30 min. Since then my daughter is hooked! Bring iPads, snacks, coloring books etc to get through the slow times.

I started bringing mine at 4. I had stand on property that we used pretty much exclusively. I had ammo can with coloring books, snacks and juice boxes. Don't plan on more than 2 hour hunts

I started bringing my daughter about that age. Only box stands, good weather, only afternoon hunts and close to road so we could get in later without disturbing other members hunts. I let her bring all kind of stuff to occupy her time but found a pad / pen was what she liked best. As she got older we played hangman and tic tax toe a lot. Then at 14 she said she didn’t want to hunt anymore for now. Kills me but I am patiently waiting and hoping she will want to hunt again. My favorite memory is she was about 5 and brought her suction cup bow and arrow. Sitting on my lap she could see out the stand window. We watched a spike walk toward us. She got off my lap and got her bow when he was almost under stand. She asked if she could shoot him and even though she couldn’t see anything she launched an arrow out the window. It landed about 20 feet from him. She looked up at me and with a very excited look said “ daddy did I get hm”? I told her almost my baby. Almost. I will never forget that.

Great story! I want to make some memories like that with mine!

Brought mine when she was 5. We had an awesome company ranch outside of Freer. She loved watching and learning, but always pulled for the deer for the first 5 years or so. She missed it when I left the company, but got on a marsh lease a couple years ago. The 8 point she shot a couple years ago isnt the biggest, but he will always have a special spot on the wall. Best hunt ever!

I've been taking her ever since she could keep up. Keep it fun. If you're after a big buck, and you're planning to hunt all day in freezing temps and stiff winds, that might not be the day to take her. But, if you keep the hunting relatively easy and fun, she'll probably love it.

Took my daughter age 3 this year. Too young, but made some memories. After first day, which was opening day, she got more used to the routine and mostly slept. Bring lots of food and drink, and your patience, and just understand, it ain’t about the deer if you do this...

Mine's only 18 months and I already can't wait to take her out. She already prefers to be outside, so i'm hoping she'll enjoy the outdoors.

Took mine squirrel hunting couple years ago when she was around 5 or 6. It was a nice walk through the woods, but that's about it. Haven't been able to convince her to go hunting again since. She likes hiking the trails at Jean Lafitte Park and Clark Creek and we've had fun camping trips to Tunica Hills....but she has zero interest in the hunting aspect of the outdoors.

She was 4. At 3 I couldn't trust her to hold me while I made the climb or climb the ladder.
Our box stands are 10-15ft high from ground to floor. The rungs are too far apart. All welded stands.
I took her to the stand in the curve. Looked like a desert cause I didn't know how she would talk or make alot of noise. She said that stand sucked and we needed to go somewhere else that night. She comes every year now. She will shoot her first next year.
My son will come with me this year.

First time I brought my little girl was when she was 5. She's now 8 and has come a couple times with me. Her first hunt was fun for both of us. I dressed her up in her little camo and orange, and she had to bring her little pink bow too. We had a lot of water that year, so the only downside of the hunt was having to carry her, an ice chest of snacks and drinks, her bow, her chair, my gun, and my pack a couple hundred yards to the box stand lol. Didn't see anything that day but she had fun.
I brought my son for his first hunt this year, he's 3. I bought him and my daugher, now 8, to sit in my box. It was pretty rough keep both of them quiet together but we got through it. Their Ipads and snacks kept them busy for most of the afternoon.
My son's second hunt this year was a blast. Ended up shooting a doe with him right next to me. He was super pumped and I got a lot of pictures and videos of him to remember that hunt. I'll never forget it thats for sure.

Brought mine out for the first time this season, she's 3. Like someone said, bring plenty snacks and she'll be fine. She's always jumping up looking for deer and making a bunch of noise, but it's all good. I don't take her out in extreme cold or when the mosquitos are bad.

Thanks everyone I’ll probably take her Friday afternoon and convince paw-paw to stay and hunt the “porch stand” Saturday morning so I can make a full hunt. We have 3 or 4 boxes that are 2-3 ft off the ground so that’s probably where we will sit. I want to take her before the movement drys up which we normally see the 2 to 3rd week of January.

I don't hunt anymore but I had my granddaughter out in my bass boat when she was 6 months old.....she smiled the whole time

Me and daughter sitting in a nasty shoothouse < Teague and daughter killing squirrels with a bird of prey.
Depends on age. Didn't start taking mine until she was 8 or 9 when she showed an interest. Got lucky and was able to take her and her brother, who is two years older, at the same time. Was funny as a damn midget circus clown show.

When you think you have enough snacks. Pack some more. It's unreal how many they go through.
A bird book and binoculars are good to bring as well
When they are ready to leave, it's time to leave

This is true. Bring 3x more than you think is necessary.
I’ve taken my daughters in the woods since they could walk well enough to not trip on every root. Not always hunting. Took them to feed deer, scout, run traps, shoot tweety birds, etc. kids are little sponges. You can teach them anything. Show her the different trees, listen to the sounds, smell flowers. I’ve found it was a lot easier to keep them interested in hunting when they actually wanted to be in the woods in general.
I agree with everyone else’s suggestions. Just remember she’s a miniature woman, who will Drag arse and make you late, eat all your damn food, won’t be quiet, and will be impatient. Preparation on your part is important.
