6.2L in the GM has lifter failure.
F-150 with the Gen 4 Coyote (5.0L V8) is the best engine on the market for a 1500 size truck.

Not sure where you are located, but Bayou Ford offers a 7 year 100K mile warranty and if you value warranty its a dang good one.

I just bought what you described used. 2023 F150 KR with the 5L engine and tow package. My longtime mechanic said all these smaller engines that are spin up with turbo charging and such won’t have the same longevity as the old classic V8’s. My 2003 Escalade has 280K miles on the 5.3, and has never had major engine or transmission work, and I pull a decent sized boat back and forth to Grand Isle and such. Just like in the plant, as a general rule, any motors running at high RPM’s will fail before one turning slower.

6.4 Hemi is a beast and still naturally aspirated.

With cam, lifter and exhaust manifold problems. That thing sucks.

On my second 5th Gen Ram after two straight GMs. I really didn't need a new truck, but knew the Hemi was going away. That engine is so good.

My only pause with Ram is that the once glorious screen choice is now kinda old. It's not bad, but not state of the art. I have read GM is going away from Android Auto/Carplay. That's a deal breaker for me.

We had one of those pieces of shite as a guide truck in Canada, heaping pile of shite and fuel economy was worse.

I’d reckon all routine maint has to be done by stealership?

I wouldn’t accept a dodge gas burner as a free gift.

Negative on maintenance being done at the dealership. Maintaining record of all required maintenance is apart of the deal though.

I know several people with the Chevy and GMC 3.0 diesels and they all love them. Granted, they drive long distances. No short trips. If you drive a lot of frequent short trips I'd go a different route.

I have a 2019 F150 5.0. Rock solid. If I had to buy another truck right now, considering the price of the F150's these days, I'd likely go GMC 3.0 diesel, since the most I pull is a 3,500 pound bass boat.

That said, as others have said, the 5.0 is likely the best motor out right now, and would pair that with 3.73's.

Same here. 2016 F150 5.0. Stalling atter I stop. and never giving a code. Lead plate in transmission has gone out twice. Great truck, but my confidence is waning.

I don't think there is a truck made right now that has had the quality of some of the trucks made 10 yrs ago.

I hate this trope, but this might be the first time since the 80s where it is accurate.

There are two good new trucks out there.

Nissan frontier midsize.

Ford 7.3 gladiator.

...5 years ago you could have picked: 6.2, 5.7, 5.0, 5.7, or 5.6. And gotten a pretty damned great V8 from anyone.

I've been in the market for a while. Always driven GMC 1500's. Of course I didn't want to spend 70-80k on a new vehicle. I ended up buying a 2025 Chevy 2500 Trail Boss gas burner. This thing is loaded and ended up costing 59k being delivered next week. Not bad considering what comes with it. Plus it's pretty bad arse looking IMO.

Except for some others, including the first model Nissan Titan.
